      Hello, everyone!
      I installed plank via synaptic and added the following to ~/.desktop-session/startup:

      #start plank
      /usr/share/applications/plank.desktop

      without any gain. Plank doesn’t startup. What should I do to make it work?
      Thanks!

        I don’thave plank installed, but did you try simply “plank” in the file ?
        For the startup-file you have to use something, that works in terminal, like plank or /usr/local/bin/plank or /usr/bin/plank,
        depending on where it is installed.

          That worked! Just as supposed to. Thanks a lot, caprea. I have one question though. Can I be sure that, any app that I’ll install will be available in one of the two: either /usr/local/bin/plank or /usr/bin/plank ? Or are there other folders I should look into?

            ‘whereis’ will help,

            eg,

            $ whereis plank
            $ whereis rox

            etc,,,

              Thanks a lot, number698! That’s a neat trick to learn.
