      Hi every one,
Since 2015, I use antiX to give life to an old laptop (2005), as I need Linux when far from home. On my everyday desktop, I use Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE) since 2014.
Recently, I was aware of a strange behavior of my desktop : the hdd was filling up quickly. I found 2 huge files (80 GB each) in /var/log : syslog and daemon.log. Investigating the cause, I found various processes related to systemd writing continuously about 1 MB/s on the hdd. Since a year or two, systemd is at the heart of LMDE and many others distros.
As I didn’t find any thread on how to fix this issue, I decided to remove LMDE and install a systemd free Linux, close to Debian. There are few of them.
With a previous experience on antiX, I decided to install it on my desktop.
This desktop is mainly used for video and sound processing.
      That’s all !

Hmmm, seems like another very good reason not to use systemd. 😉

        Linux (& BSD) since 1999

While I have not noticed that behavior on any of my systems, I’m still grateful for both MX and antiX.

I do also have openSUSE, Fedora, PCLinuxOS, Debian, Peppermint Linux, as well as MX and two variations of antiX currently installed on one of my laptop systems.

I’ll check the size of the files and see if anything in /var or elsewhere is growing at an unreasonable pace. I do tend to run package cleaning utilities and other maintenance tools. Perhaps these are cleaning up appropriately.

          Welcome to antiX! 👍
