::I really hope that this browser matures enough to support two of the major Webmail services. It’s definitely lean and fast, but it’s currently limited by quite a few defects that limit functionality.

I think this is true of NetSurf and Konqueror also. Not really suitable for what so many people do on the web anymore. But they work fine for simple reading, like Wikipedia, etc. – most of the time.
I use Gmail and the G-Suite daily. What type of browser technology is needed to use these services like Gmail and YahooMail? I use Chrome on my business computers. But I have also logged in on my P-III using SeaMonkey. What can’t NetSurf and badwolf make it work?
Ahh, just tried Gmail on SeaMonkey on P-III. NOT recommended! Okay, but even on my more modern systems with multi-core and 2GB or more of RAM, what is so special about Gmail and Yahoo! mail that some browsers can’t render these sites?

::I don’t know if it’s CSS style handling, HTML5, both, or something else but browsers like Dillo and badwolf lack the complete functionality.
SeaMonkey does most of it, Firefox, Chrome, Chromium, Brave, Vivaldi, Waterfox, Palemoon can handle the Webmail sites.

::Hello @ masinick, would you please try Gmail and Yahoo with Javascript switched on, I have been told Badwolf
will work in that case. Can not confirm as unable to compile myself.user has an Arch/antiX dual boot box. Badwolf on Arch.

I am “capable” of compiling programs, but I don’t resort to doing this very often anymore; I don’t have a need, and I don’t have anything to prove; I’ve compiled operating system kernels and major applications (twenty – twenty five years ago), but since I’m not a developer any more, I prefer not to bother with this any longer.--

::I pressed the JS button and got both Yahoo Mail and Gmail to work today.
I had tried that before without success; JS is a toggle button at the top of the browser window. So it is Javascript, NOT Java that is needed; they are two VERY different technologies with a confusingly similar name.Javascript is a scripting language, fairly similar to PHP and bash.
Java is a byte compiled programming language primarily used in servers, code to interface between users and databases.--

::Hi Brian, sorry, thought you would know what was meant.
We do know the difference, now to be more precise we have not been able to compile latest Badwolf as yet on antiX. Version 1 runs.We have to mess with JavaScript to tame Firefox and keep our host list up to date, many sites have a lot of tracking and ad delivery implemented within often very messy scripts. Going through the site coding is useful for extracting URLs or delivering some unexpected results.

@moddit:
Hi, I did figure it out, and I saw the JS tab the first time, but struggled to get it working properly.
This time around I had better success. What actually helped me was that I happened to see a post on the MX Linux forum, and it was nicely documented, and it very clearly and specifically explained to press the JS tab – and they noted that it “toggles” JavaScript on and off. That tipped me off that I needed to press it ONCE, try Yahoo Mail or Gmail and see if they work. If not, press it one more time and try again. I didn’t have to “try again”, this time I pressed JS once, entered Yahoo Mail; it worked; I navigated through a few messages, then I replaced Yahoo Mail with Gmail, and without any further pressing on the JS tab, Gmail also works.
I think the key here is to recognize that pressing JS toggles on and off the JavaScript functionality, so anyone who initially doesn’t get the right JavaScript capability, keep this in mind.
So we’ve now covered this in overly complete details; thanks for following up!

::Okay, so it seems to be JavaScript that is the magical feature that makes Gmail and Yahoo!Mail work on the browser. I will play with the “Enable JavaScript” setting in NetSurf. I don’t know if it will work the same way as the JS button on Badwolf.
BTW, for everyone reading – correct spelling and correct terms matter. The reader will not understand if you do not use the right term or correct spelling. (Java is not JavaScript, and Java Script is not JavaScript). I make it a habit to re-read my posts before sending to avoid misunderstandings. I then read it again after post and if I see an error I edit it. It is a courtesy to the reader. This is not meant to be a “nanny” and pick on anyone, and I realize that sometimes people get mad if we, as readers, point this type of thing out. Just an observation that the correct terms matter and we should take the time to type correctly.

Indeed you are correct! I know the difference, but I did not have CAPITALIZATION correct, and I also stand corrected, thank you very much!
https://www.javascript.com/ – makes it clear – the correct spelling, as Seaken64 has reminded us, is-
JavaScript

::Sorry, I didn’t mean to nit-pick. But there was a comment earlier that said something like ‘I thought you would know what I meant’ but that is rarely the case. We can get confused if we don’t use the right terms. I have pointed this out many times when users ask questions on these forums. And I know English is not everyone’s first language, and I’m sure people roll their eyes. But these forums are meant to be a type of user help. We have to make an effort to be precise.

::The person who wrote the post happens to be very intelligent but among other deficits dyslectic.
not his best language. And is writing in english.
That presents further difficulty for many users of both this and other forums who are frightened
of being critisized for lack of clarity or spelling mistakes.FYI

::Hi everyone, I’ve been away for a couple of weeks… I had no luck compiling the latest version of Badwolf under antiX…
Maybe Skidoo, or some other guru can solve the dependencies problem and create a deb, or a appimage image… I looked for that on-line, and found nothing. Did anyone already asked antiX/MX’s Dev’s to create a deb file?P.
