      I was trying to test Badwolf but after installing it on my 32bit netbook it won’t open.
      From terminal:

      ‘$ badwolf
      Running Badwolf version: 1.0.3
      Buildtime WebKit version: 2.28.4
      Runtime WebKit version: 2.34.6
      webkit-web-extension directory set to: /home/luis/.local/share/badwolf/webkit-web-extension
      Configuration directory can be found in: /home/luis/.config/badwolf
      Bookmarks: No loadable file found at /home/luis/.local/share/badwolf/bookmarks.xbel

      (badwolf:4829): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: 00:21:16.769: g_object_ref: assertion ‘G_IS_OBJECT (object)’ failed

      ** (badwolf:4829): ERROR **: 00:21:17.337: Unable to configure xdg-desktop-portal access in the WebKit sandbox: GApplication is required.

        I have the same issue. All I can tell is that it has something to do with the interaction between WebKit and xdg-desktop-portal. I don’t have this issue on Fedora, but I do have it with another webkit browser (emacs-webkit) on antiX. Strangely, Midori works fine on antiX, despite also being a WebKit browser.

        I’ve tried some things involving installing and manually running xdg-desktop-portal and xdg-desktop-portal-gtk, but so far no luck. The weird thing for me is that all this xdg-desktop stuff has to do with flatpak, which is definitely not installed here.

        FIXED: set WEBKIT_FORCE_SANDBOX in your environment to 0. e.g.:

        $ WEBKIT_FORCE_SANDBOX=0 badwolf

          Same for me, too.
          Midori doesn’t work, either:

          $ midori

          ** (midori:9227): CRITICAL **: 10:31:02.344: session.vala:278: Failed add tab to session database: Invalid type 'GParamULong' in statement:
                          INSERT INTO tabs (crdate, tstamp, session_id, uri, title)
                          VALUES (:crdate, :tstamp, :session_id, :uri, :title)

              I’ve corrected the environment variable in my previous post. The WEBKIT_FORCE_SANDBOX=0 workaround works for me.

              That Midori issue looks different, though.

                perhaps https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/badwolf-stoped-working/#post-71934 from PPC can help.

                The WEBKIT_FORCE_SANDBOX=0 workaround works for me.

                It doesn’t solve all the problems for me:

                $ WEBKIT_FORCE_SANDBOX=0 badwolf
                Running Badwolf version: 1.0.3
                Buildtime WebKit version: 2.28.4
                Runtime WebKit version: 2.38.3
                webkit-web-extension directory set to: /home/user/.local/share/badwolf/webkit-web-extension
                Configuration directory can be found in: /home/user/.config/badwolf
                Bookmarks: No loadable file found at /home/user/.local/share/badwolf/bookmarks.xbel

                (badwolf:13750): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: 09:36:28.686: g_object_ref: assertion 'G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed

                (badwolf:13750): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: 09:40:15.832: g_object_unref: assertion 'G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed

                  This one makes badwolf run here
                  export WEBKIT_FORCE_SANDBOX=0 ; badwolf
                  But as PPC already wrote on the other thread, is it sane to force the disabling of sandboxing?

                    $ export WEBKIT_FORCE_SANDBOX=0 ; badwolf
                    Running Badwolf version: 1.0.3
                    Buildtime WebKit version: 2.28.4
                    Runtime WebKit version: 2.38.3
                    webkit-web-extension directory set to: /home/user/.local/share/badwolf/webkit-web-extension
                    Configuration directory can be found in: /home/user/.config/badwolf
                    Bookmarks: No loadable file found at /home/user/.local/share/badwolf/bookmarks.xbel

                    (badwolf:6365): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: 08:44:31.381: g_object_ref: assertion 'G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed

                    Obviously, I’ve no idea if it’s sane to force the disabling of sandboxing. I’m just sharing the info that it doesn’t work for me. No need to continue testing if it’s not worth it.
