Banning members

Until today, I never noticed users getting banned – it must have happened before today…

In this recent case, I do agree with the banishment- we are a forum, and it’s supposed that, when different people meet, they don’t always agree in everything, but we must realize that we can’t be right all the time. I messed up lots of times both here in, more terribly for me, in real life. As in anywhere else, here, we must try not to pick fights- he have to try to understand other points of view. My personal way of dealing with those kinds of personalities is try to ignore there, they will eventually get tired if they don’t get attention and move on.
I have great esteem for many forum users. Some, like skidoo, where so sarcastic that got themselves in some jams. Some users even use swear words (I do that all the time, in real life in the heat of the moment, but try not to do so in writing).

So. Please try to be civil and abide by what the moderators ask you to do. If someone presents a different point of view, try to check it you are as right as you though…
Also, if you ask for help, try not to be sarcastic or laconic – I recently saw a post with just 2 words… (Hum… what the hell was that about?) And I even tried to help that person anyway…

If you want to pick fights, well, I guess that’s what social networks that cost billions are (besides sucking all the data they can off you to sell to the higher bider)

We are tech support forum – a Linux one, more precisely an antiX Linux one- like someone said recently – we are a family here, we try to help each other- family members sometimes do disagree, but they can’t always be trying to pick fights…

There have been a few people banned though since adding anti spam software the problems are much less frequent.

We have disagreements and different communication styles and some of what we say bothers others. All I suggest is common courtesy. Otherwise we’re allowed to have widely different values and opinions. We are people from all over the world; we are unlikely to agree with everyone and everything.

What we can do is show more restraint than politicians and military forces. We collectively have at least as much intelligence and arguably much more interesting things to share and contribute!

Let’s see if we can arise to a much better result than those other groups.

Great… Not likely to agree on everything but strong disagreement should not necessarily mean to be banned to Gulag. If someone does not like the style of disagreement (myself included) then should not continue…

Anticapitalista is from Thessaloniki, Greece. Just an example… Different backgrounds, different styles, different environments. Our styles of expression could be different between us because of personalities too.
We should exhibit more tolerance and more freedom of speech…

I think most members try to do this, even without mods telling them. In my experience, when people start behaving badly in public places such as forums, they rarely abide, they rarely read the rules, they rarely understand the rules, they usually don’t understand how their conduct is a problem. In short, there’s really no point in asking such people to be nice, because they do not understand what it means to be nice.

My advice is that rules in forums such as these are easily available, easy to read and easy to understand. When someone breaches the rules, let them know exactly which rule they broke in which case, give them one chance, and if they repeat the behavior, ban them.

So it seems I am on the wrong forum, something like fox news XFCE promotions.
Mr andy will of course from now on support users on all aspects of antix instead
using the forum as a promo platform .

I dont need the forum when it is in this shit state.

IMHO much worse than when No Clue was king.

My thanks to those who have given constructive criticism, support, and made antiX
a group go to distro over last years.

permanent – mainly because the forum software doesn’t offer any other option.
I would have given a ‘cool off’ ban like in rugby league (10 minutes in the sin-bin), but it isn’t available.
