The forum degrades in quality when one member keeps posting vacuous posts/rants with disinformation. I think a permanent ban is justified.

permanent – mainly because the forum software doesn’t offer any other option.
I would have given a ‘cool off’ ban like in rugby league (10 minutes in the sin-bin), but it isn’t available.

Thank you @anticapitalista for clarification why the ban is permanent. Namely it is merely due to forum software design limitation. Otherwise a cool-off period would be applied.
Based on this statement I infer that due to such design of the forum software the user name of the banned forum member cannot be re-instated, even after some period of cool-off time and such ‘cooled down’ person would need (should he want to) to register under a different username in order to be admitted to the forum?
Understandably, such banned person allowed for cooling down to come back to the forum would be required to no longer provoke any adversarial polemics but instead focus on material discussion of technical matters…
Just trying to clarify general rules, to ensure fair treatment of forum members…
        Thanks again @anticapitalista…
