::@ahoppin,
No need for any apologys, we all have different ways of doing things, different ideas and different habits.
Important is, I am trying to help not block or be offputting.Input is vital, it helps us all consider how to make antiX and ice even better, we are human and after long
usage we may well overlook what may be very irritating to newer users or just improve ergonomics.Did you already go through box look org, there are hundreds of ice themes on that site alone. Maybe somebody
already made a theme which fits your wishes.Just found out: There are a couple of older Themes with a corner grabber on box look. IceGilDust is one example
so it does seem feasible, unless somehow blocked in newer software setup.If it is not too difficult for technical reasons and he has some time to spare maybe BobC will jump in and either
explain how to add a larger corner zone with marking to a theme or even impliment one. He made the excellent super
thin themes I like so much, big borders waste expensive screen space and energy.I noted the Corner size variants again with the remark on position in prefs as have seen settings added at
top of file being negated by other settings near bottom due to way ice reads the file.- This reply was modified 1 year, 1 month ago by ModdIt.

::ahoppin,
Did you try changing the theme to one of the antiX-Magic ones?
See if it’s better.
If not, try different ones till you find one that you do like, or investigate how to create or change a theme yourself to create one that you like better.

::Thanks again, Moddit, and also to Bob.
First, to be clear, I’m not asking someone else to fix this for me! I’m happy to build my own theme or configuration, or edit one, as long as I can find the documentation.
Sorry, Moddit, I don’t know what you mean by “Did you already go through box look org.”
I’ve tried all of the antiX 21 included themes, and on this element, they’re all the same, unfortunately.
It’s strange, the GTK theme chooser, “Widget” under Customize Look and Feel, shows the lower right “dragging handle” that I’m looking for. However, it doesn’t appear on the actual windows. Please see the composite of 2 screenshots that I’m attaching below. It shows the GTK theme chooser on the left, and the lower right corner of Geany (enlarged) on the right.

::Box look org is one of several places in the net where themes for icewm can be found
Just a few from search term icewm themes
https://www.box-look.org/browse?cat=142&ord=latest
https://icewmthemes.blogspot.com/https://ice-wm.org/themes/ gives info on theme creation or modification
There are more, hundreds of themes and variations of themes scattered over
myriad sites and blogs. Have fun.March 16, 2022 at 10:26 pm #79219ModeratorBobC
::Are you sure you are changing the IceWM theme? The screenshot you posted is of the GTK theme. It’s not the same… See pic below for IceWM themes…

::Yes, changing Icewm themes from Settings -> Themes.
It turns out that the little triangles at lower right window corners are called “resize grips” or “corner grips.”
Their absence in various Linux distributions appears to be a long-standing concern, at least in XFCE. Here are a couple of discussions :
https://forum.xfce.org/viewtopic.php?pid=22268#p22268
https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/156435/how-can-i-make-windows-easier-to-resize-in-xfce
I tried the .gtkrc-2.0 tweak in that second link. It did nothing.
This page has some history of the resize grip :
https://xubuntu.org/news/window-resizing-in-xubuntu-and-xfce/
I’ve increased BorderSizeX and BorderSizeY to 5 pixels in /usr/share/icewm/themes/*/default.theme. That helped a bit, without making the borders too obnoxious.

::I’m sorry, but I don’t know much about Xfce or Xbuntu. I’ve tried both but they use a lot of resources compared to antiX and IceWM.
As Moddit suggested, for details on IceWM theme creation look at https://ice-wm.org/themes/
The border size I chose in the theme I’m running is also 5, which I found easier to use on laptops. The corner size on mine is set at 20, and that seems to work well.

::If there is discussion over at xubuntu, xfce user sites you are likely to find help and assistance there.
Pretty much all of us here use the lightweight window managers because anything else feels slow after a
week or so. Nobody else joined the thread to clamour for a theme change.
Ice themes are pretty much distribution agnostic, border decorations too, but you may or may not find some
kind of limitation due underlying librarys.Have fun making Icewm just the way you personaly want it, seems you may help XFCE users while doing so. that is
an important part of what linux community is all about.March 18, 2022 at 5:23 pm #79322Memberahoppin
::Thanks again to both of you. I’m sending this job to the background for now. Maybe some output will show up eventually.

::Alt+left-click drag: Move window
Alt+right-click drag: Resize windowThis really is the way to go. Holding down the alt key while resizing by holding down the right mouse button. You just have to be in the right quadrant, more or less. Once you’ve got the hang of that theres no reason to have any borders at all.
in
~/.icewm/prefoverride
add:TitleBarHeight=0
# Horizontal window border
BorderSizeX=0 # [0-128]# Vertical window border
BorderSizeY=0 # [0-128]Now you are maximizing your screen real estate. Your windows will tile beautifully and seamlessly. Give it a try 😉

::HOW TO MAKE ANTIX ICEWM WINDOW FRAMEs “EASILY GRIPPABLE”
I knew I’d met this and resolved it early in my “ANTIX Journey” but couldn’t remember how – so I’ve looked up my note, & thought I’d contribute it here:
It’s the border-width parameter that controls it: lots of themes have super-thin ones.
On ICEWM you can alter border widths by adding a file:
/home/yourusername/.icewm/prefoverride ( or .prefoverride, or both)
and in that file, paste this:
BorderSizeX = 4
BorderSizeY = 4Then use Menu > Logout > Restart ICEWM to restart the WM.
That makes the “edges grippable”. ‘Tweak to Taste’.
Note however — you can also press ALT + RIGHT MOUSE while dragging inside
near any window corner, and it picks it up.- This reply was modified 3 months, 3 weeks ago by flyingchap. Reason: just typos

::This was already done a year or two ago in the antiX-Magic-* theme set, as they are designed to be laptop friendly.
I offered to make the same improvements to other heavily used themes as well at the time, but there were no responses.
If you are going to override the settings, you probably also want to increase the corner sizes as well.
