Let me know how it goes.

Here in Virtualbox, ressources used, and space used (2.4 GB in aufs, this is what the space should used once installed).

            Family 14.1 LCD 16 VRAM ID PowerBook4,3
RAM 256 MB VRAM 16 MB
Storage 30.0 GB Optical 8X “Combo Drive”
            Complete iBook G3/700 14-Inch (16 VRAM – Tr) Specs

Merci en avance pour votre aide πŸ™‚

in less than a month I will have that machine and I would like to install linux on it.
As far as I could understand, starting from Jessie, Debian don’t support anymore that kind of processor, the latest one being debian 7.

            Kind regards

I don’t have experience yet with Mac computers so I would be unable to answer that. I fear you will have to try booting a thumbdrive and see for yourself.

However I fear even more PowerPC CPUs need specificly adapted software.

I found a few leads for your PPC :

              i wish you luck!

a few leads for your PPC :

The first thing I thought was a lead for me? πŸ™‚

Now seriously, I liked your system, when I tested the previous version, a while ago… Still not enought to jump ship from antiX πŸ™‚

                    @melodie- A bit off topic:
I do think antiX requires a few tweaks to be more user friendly, mainly to folks coming from other OS… Sice I didn not want to create a new derived OS, I went the path of the “Transformation Pack” and so ft10-transformation was born- feel free to install the package and comment- I would appreciate comments from a fellow tinkerer

                    P.

LOL! Have you taken your nick from the PowerPC Apple branded computers?
“ft10-transformation” ? If it is in the repos, I will look at it. I am not creating a derived OS, just spinoffs.

@melodie- no, my nick are my initials πŸ™‚ I never owned any apple device!
And yes ft10-transformation is in the repos – if you are interested in including any of it in Bento, the source code is available over at FT10’s gitlab: https://gitlab.com/antix-contribs/ft10-transformation/-/blob/main/README.md
I like that you include “Gnome software” in Bento – I thought about adding a Software installer to FT10 out of the box, to make life easier for ex-windows users, but I thought having Package Installer + synaptic + another Software installer would be over kill. I like the way that MX included flatpak’s in the Package Installer (although I’m not a fan of this universal package- it installed over a 1gb of dependencies just to install Foliate (book reader) flakpak- and the resulting Foliate app can’t even open files ).
Also, FT10 includes some nice little extras that you may like to adapt and include in Bento ( Weather, News, a basic Calendar that allows to add events, World Clock (in CLI and GUI modes) , Multi-timer, Alarm, Debinstaller, Cloud and Translator)
