As Mr masikik posted, there is a major perl transition ongoing and at present it is really easy to break a sid
      system. Do not blindly upgrade.

Ensure you have a backup image, make sure it is bootable !!!.

sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade -s

Using apt capability will tell you if an upgrade would certainly result in held or broken packages.

      apt list –upgradable

Will give a list from which you can pick needed applications which will cleanly update.

Today firefox esr for example is clean. You can safely upgrade.
you might want to use sudo apt install firefox-esr –only upgrade I just used the install command
apt is cleverly programmed it will upgrade package and any dependancys will be corrected.

For other packages you may wish for do

sudo apt install packagename or names -s
which will simulate an install and help you, if you follow apt messages, to keep up and running.
