    Hi all,

    I’ve installed antix19 on my i3 dell inspiron 580 system and updated the distribution and kernel.

    It’s a really great distro IMHO.

    But on boot, the system hangs with black screen and frozen cursor
    for about 1:30secs before booting into IceWM.

    Any ideas what is happening? is this normal operation?

    You could try typing nomodeset at the boot screen.

    I forgot to say the Grub loader is not displaying either
    but I have a feeling that this is due to my Dell 25″ monitor on HDMI.

    My system is dual boot AntiX 19 and Windows 7.

    I have to blindly cursor down key 4 times now to boot Windows 7 (no Grub menu).

    Strangely when I boot AntiX19 from live USB, Grub loader shows fine?

    Got to go, by try this.

    From live USB, choose Switch to Grub bootloader option.
    It should show your antiX (and windows) install.
    Then use e key to edit and add nomodeset – boot using F10 key.

    1: Does blank screen freeze happen on live as well as the installed?

    make sure the dash “–” was not typed there on the line
    just the word nomodeset nothing else then hit f10 key

    depends on the surrounding crowd ?!

    No just on installed HDD version.

    Am I right in thinking it’s a monitor/GPU driver/screen resolution/refresh rate issue?
