          Hi benni,

How to login from a “black screen”?

Do you mean there is only a login prompt?

And you wish to boot to a graphical login (like a Grub boot menu)?

What antiX version have you installed full (recommended), base, core or net (adventurers only)?

If you are not running antiX base or full, we cannot know what login manager you are using. What login manager are you using? Does it use a init script as a service or a runit service? It is very difficult to know what is going on without explaining what you installed in antiX core, or if an update replaced some services. You will have it hard getting any good recommendation if you cannot answer these questions.

Hum… “Maybe” antiX core does not include a GUI login manager?
And also, and probably even more important that any technical problem you can have: people here welcomed you and asked the bare minimum information required to try to help you… Being rude and just saying “what is with that” is a nice way of not getting any replies.

If lightdm ahs an init script, it should be in /etc/init.d/lightdm

If instead of startx you run
                        sudo service lightdm start
                        Does it work?

Another reason to get your system info is to know what repos you are using. If running testing, I will check the testing package of lightdm. I will have a look now.

EDIT: Lightdm should still provide an init script based on their salsa git. Do you see it in your system?

                            ls -l /etc/init.d/lightdm
Is the file there? If it is, try
                            sudo /etc/init.d/lightdm start
To start the lightdm display manager. If it cannot start, please share the error output.
