To blue digit (the OP) and anyone else with a prolonged boot of Antix17 (or MXLinux17) who has a wacom digitizer,
The patch from Stevo which is linked to posts on the MXLinux forum (searching on wacom and boot brings it up) worked for me.
My time went down from 312-319 seconds to 93 seconds, booting a LiveUSB via a USB 2 connection.
So, if you are still around, give it a try.
