Hi , did anybody build a minimalist desktop environment from antix-net on an old laptop?

        Hello rx3210,

I did just that for an old Compaq nx6125 except using antiX-core and evilwm, it worked very well. AntiX-net definitely is the “most barebone” you can go I believe, if you know what you want you shouldn’t have any problems. Also, you might find this post by forum member BobC interesting https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/build-icewm-system-from-core-17-1/

Have a look at this video. It starts with an antiX-net install. Obviously, choose the apps you want.

            Build a Custom antiX-mate install

If it is not ‘relevant’ and you need the ‘commands’, I suggest you do not use net or core until you know the basics of Debian and apt.

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

I succeeded following the instructions and installing everything but on reboot I do not get to launch the gui and I stay in command line mode with error message intel_set_cpu_fifo_underrun_reporting i915 antix

You must have installed systemd. antiX doesn’t use it.
What repos did you use? stable/testing/sid?

I used the default repositories that came with antix-net stretch 32bit.

Do you mean antiX-17.1_386-net.iso? That is the latest.

I thought you wanted jwm. Anyhow, let me test.
Did you install net iso to hard drive and then install the rest?

I think the problem is with installing lightdm. Remove it and try installing elogind first. But you might have to start from scratch.

Do you mean the lightdm brought in the systemd? I followed this video as well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3d4M4yXmQ0&lc=z23mg1vysoemu3nkiacdp431lqdbpzhzpaoog2yngkhw03c010c.1538408044830886

Yes, lightdm probably brought in systemd

Do I need to make any nano editing with the elogind?
