          Ok, you need to install libpam-elogind before installing lightdm to avoid all the systemd crap.
          It is probably a good idea to also install xserverxorg-legacy

            I installed the system and before installing any packages i got the intel errors after I rebooted per photo

              Those errors are nothing to worry about as far as I am aware.

              next steps

              1. Do a dist upgrade before installing anything.
              2. make sure, if you want lightdm, to install libpam-elogind before doing so.
              3. install xserver-xorg-legacy (may not actually be needed)

                I really do not want to install mate. I want the lightest environment. which is the lightest environment and what packages should I combine with it

                  I didn’t say you should install mate (see my first post).

                  The lightest environment is to run without X at all.
                  If you want X, then install a windows manager such as jwm, flubox or icewm.

                  You could try this

                  apt-get install xorg xserver-xorg-legacy jwm

                    when I installed gksu it removed the libpam-elogind and lightdm lol
                    I reinstalled them again the libpam-elogind and lightdm now I get a blinking cursor on a black screen
                    it seems some of the package i found in the youtube is messing with my happiness

                        HI after clean partition i made these commands

                        sudo apt-get update
                        sudo apt-get upgrade
                        sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
                        sudo apt-get install xorg xserver-xorg-legacy jwm
                        sudo reboot
                        sudo apt-get install libpam-elogind
                        sudo reboot
                        sudo apt-get install lightdm
                        sudo reboot
                        sudo apt-get install xdg-user-dirs
                        sudo reboot

                        the result: blank screen with a blinking “-“

                          what is the path of the file to disable kernel mode setting? I am trying to type nomodeset i915.modeset=0 nouveau.modeset=0 I hope this fix my black screen

                            runwithedolphin helped me advising me to install actual drivers. and it worked now I have jwm on core working

                            sudo apt-get update
                            sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
                            sudo apt-get install xorg xserver-xorg-video-modesetting xserver-xorg-video-intel
                            sudo apt-get install libpam-elogind ” I had to install this package before lightdm to prevent lightdm to bring in the systemd”
                            sudo apt-get install lightdm jwm

                              the applications being installed via the terminal do not show in the jwm menu. how to solve this?

                                Isn’t the point “Update Menu” in your jwm menu ?
                                Does desktop-menu --write-out-global help ?
