Hi,
is booting from antix with nouveau driver possible?
For now i did start it with xorg=fbdev which works better than vesa. Or do i have to test the nvidia driver works?first part of hwinfo:

Your suggested bootup optioon causes x server crashing and in Xo log ist states that there is no monitor attached while there is.I do try again tomorrow.
Thx very much for your reply and your help. It seems just like a very little step missing.

::It is true (for my particular hybrid laptop). I tried with different kernels (4.9, 4.19 and a remaster with 5.8) and various boot options (like i915.modeset=0 nouveau.modeset=1 xorg=nouveau and even vcard=menu to select the card directly without any other xorg parameter), but I wasn’t able to boot to X with nouveau driver option. I can only boot in modesetting (normal mode for me) or xorg=intel
My case may be different (hybrid intel+nvidia graphics on a laptop), and disabling the intel i915 driver doesn’t let me boot to X.
My inxi -G showsGraphics: Device-1: Intel 3erd gen Core processor Graphics driver: N/A Device-2: NVIDIA GF108M [Geforce GT 630M] driver: nouveau v: kernel Display: server: X.org 1.20.4 driver: nouveau tty:124x34But X gets stuck and I can only log in from tty.
The above test isn’t helpfull for your case (and I am not trying to blame the nouveu driver for my specific hybrid computer).
Is anyone else experiencing problems with nouveau? Can anyone provide any guidance?

::Have you tried different kernels? That’s pretty recent hardware. Kernel is 4.9 I think in antiX. Maybe experiment with newer kernel?

::Yes, a try with a newer kernel should be made for this hardware. There is the possibility to download an iso with the 4.19 kernel on the download page.
Sharing my experiences: On my laptop with a legacy nvidia-card , there’s no problem. The live-isos boot and installed too with nouveau, without any action from my side.
On my Desktop with a 960gtx-card , i have to use “xorg=nouveau nouveau.modeset=1” from above for boot. Otherwise it stops after “starting init” . Same on MX-Linux.January 18, 2023 at 12:09 am #97592MemberSolusSpider
