I installed antiX Core with the purpose of using the command line for writing in a distraction-free environment. But the large frame around the content, with the antiX logo etc, is extremely distracting and occupies a large part of the screen. I wish to remove it completely. Is this possible?

Yes. Remove the splash=v line from the bootmenu
