      I install kodi-18.9 on antix 19.4, but it do not start:

      $ kodi
      libva info: VA-API version 1.4.0
      libva info: va_getDriverName() returns 0
      libva info: Trying to open /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/dri/i915_drv_video.so
      libva info: va_openDriver() returns -1
      Segmentation fault
      Crash report available at /home/demo/kodi_crashlog-20210626_085208.log

      I type “apt-file search i915_drv_video.so”, but no result is printed. How to fix this?
      I use this repository to install kodi-18.9:
      deb https://www.deb-multimedia.org buster main

        As you haven’t provided hardware information, I can only assume that the CPU/GPU combo has no hardware acceleration capabilities.
        See this thread with the same error: https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/netflix-on-kodi-pentium-m/

        Some suggest to uninstall the va-api packages to use software acceleration instead for that integrated GPU on KODI and other applications.
        sudo apt remove libvdpau-va-gl1
        Warning: This will make video playback for your system much slower, but if it doesn’t have the support, there is nothing you can do (unless someone has a better suggestion).

          I remove libvdpau-va-gl1, now I see the follow error message when launch mpv and kodi:

            OK. Install it again
            sudo apt install vdpau-driver-all

            I am trying to find a package containing the file /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/dri/i915_drv_video.so and related kodi errors.

            For now, could you boot a 19.4 x64 and install kodi live (and see if it runs on a 64 bits system)?
            I suspect that kodi with va + i915 graphic driver = problems.
            Searching for “kodi” “libva info: Trying to open /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/dri/i915_drv_video.so” comes up with many results, but I haven’t found a possible solution that was reported to work.

            Reading now: https://wiki.debian.org/HardwareVideoAcceleration

            EDIT: Install vainfo and give us the output

            sudo apt install vainfo
            vainfo

              Here is the result of vainfo:

              $ vainfo
              libva info: VA-API version 1.4.0
              libva info: va_getDriverName() returns 0

              libva info: va_openDriver() returns -1
              vaInitialize failed with error code -1 (unknown libva error),exit

              I still do not test the 64 bits version of antiX, I will test and post the result here.

                There isn’t much hope for this CPU with kodi (at least with this version of kodi).
                You could try to force mesa to use i965 configuration while launching kodi
                MESA_LOADER_DRIVER_OVERRIDE=i965 kodi
                But I am not too sure it will work.
                There seems to be no va support for i915 (at least non that I have found so far).

                    I think newer kodi versions have these problems.
                    On the MX forum, a user claims that the kodi version 18.4 work properly, but from 18.5 onward they get your exact same error.
                    https://forum.mxlinux.org/viewtopic.php?p=589155#p589155

                    It was also reported for libreelect, but the user’s CPU is much newer than yours, so I don’t know if the solution would work for you:
                    https://forum.libreelec.tv/thread/23884-kodi-19-fails-to-start-on-old-intel-gpu-with-i915-because-it-loads-the-wrong-lib/

                    If you can find an older kodi version and try it, maybe you can get it to work.

                      Hi Roberto, you may be able to get the hardware acceleration you need by using a graphics card.
                      According to the manual your board does have a PCI16x expansion slot.
                      Personaly i would see if i can borrow or find a cheap card, in any case you would be able to improve
                      the performance of your device, the problem is as usual with older hardware money to improvement ratio.
                      The only listed CPU Upgrade is to core 2 duo, if you can find one to fit your socket for free go for it.

                        I has tested kodi version 17.6 and it launch, however some add-ons I need are incompatible with this old version of kodi 🙁
                        Unfortunately I have not yet found a solution to the problem.
                        I can not to update my hardware for now.
