      Hello, All:

Mostly because of making Anki flash cards, I have been using the antiX screen capture feature, with the print screen key, rather a lot lately.

Making select areas and saving those in png format.

      So…

Is there a way of setting the default behaviour of that utility so it can default to screen capture and png format instead of whole screen and jpg?

      Thanks in advance!

Maybe Image Magic is the answer. Its not spelled that way, but its a program for altering and converting a batch of images. If they were all similar in terms of window and such, maybe you could automate a process of cropping them and saving as .png

Another option would be just to use scrot directly. In a terminal type scrot -h

The antiX screenshot utility does not cater for those but the underlying app it uses does.

Have a look at the man page for scrot
          man scrot
and check some of the online tutorials such as
          https://www.howtoforge.com/tutorial/how-to-take-screenshots-in-linux-with-scrot/

By constructing a command line including -u or –focussed with -d or –delay and saving the file as a png you should get what you are after.
