I have persevered with connman since I made this latest install, but have now been obliged to abandon it because of persistent inability to connect to the internet despite my wlan being present and recognised by conky and network assistant, and characters visibly moving up and down the wlan.
As wicd is the single wlan handler that I have never had a moments trouble with I resolved to install it, and use it, in preference to Ceni, which I retain as a backstop. However the install failed as follows, see attachment install_wicd_fails.
What is the current status of package wicd, and is there any good reason why I should not be able to install it?In abandoning connman I ran an apt purge connman. I would have been quite happy to continue as before with ceni, but even this dependable package leaves somewhat to be desired in usability and information it is able to provide the user while up and running, such as a look on request at all wlans visible etc.

::Hi, sadly the package ‘wicd’ no longer has installation candidate, i.e. it is not present in the repositories.
You can search Debian repositories for ‘wicd’:
https://www.debian.org/distrib/packages (look for “Search package directories” in the web-page).
https://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=wicd&searchon=names&suite=all§ion=allNo longer present except for ‘(old)oldstable’ (and ‘experimental’).
The development of ‘wicd’ has stalled (I believe it was partly due to porting to Python3).This is not error on your side, it is about the content of the repositories.

::Thanks for that sybok.
Because I now have no confidence whatever left in connman, I shall have to soldier on with ceni, which although very good indeed leaves much to be desired.
Is there a document that discusses all the aspects of ceni, installation, maintenance, problem solving etc, that can be used for reference?
Every time I run a fresh install I seem to have new network connection troubles, or old ones revisited, the answers to which I have maybe already discovered and now sadly have forgotten.
I have made the following remark before in these forums, that antiX is a truly great distribution, let down by this one aspect, handling local wireless lans.

Good Luck.
