Just installed antix 19.1 on an Acer TravelMate 5720 and can´t connect to the internet by wifi…

with connman I can not do really anything but activated wifi
with ceni i added a wifi account with pw…
i see “wlan0 up” and “wlan0 down” in the conky
but FF does not connect to the internet
and Synaptic does not find any new packets

if I look at connman it says under “Global Properties” State:inaktiv

      connmanctl > connect wifi
Error net/connman/service/wifi: Method “connect with signature “” on interface “net.connman.Service” doesn´t exist

      what I´m doing wrong?
      Thanks for help…

Under Control Centre > Network > WIFI Connect > Connman System Tray check that WiFi is ON, then go to Wireless, select your provider, press Connect, enter details, & it should work.

        Linux (& BSD) since 1999

            Just installed antix 19.1

Is it 19.1 full or base? 32 or 64 bits? Are you using a firewall or is it on? We cannot guess what you are doing. We need more info.

            0. If you are using the firewall, dissable it for now. Test again to see if firefox works. If it does that means that the firewall is not configured properly. If it doesn’t…

            1. Check that your wireless device is being detected:
            inxi -n
For the wlan0 device it should tell you what Wireless network adapter and driver you are using. That way you will know about your device. If it is not there then maybe you are missing the driver or the firmware (or both). If it is working, then..

            2. Check to see if wireless is dissabled
            iwconfig
This should tell you the state of your device. For example, if TX-Power=off means that the device is turned off. You may need to turn it on by pressing the wifi button (or button combination) for your laptop. If it is one (for example “Tx-Power=3”.

            3. CONNMAN INSTRUCCTIONS
Delete ceni configuration first. edit the file in /etc/network/interfaces and delete all lines related to wlan. If you don’t know how, open a terminal and write:
            sudo leafpad /etc/network/interfaces

3.1 Launch connman. in the Status tab, make sure that under Technologies, Wifi if Powered On.
If you cannot see any Services, then try turning all devices off (tick the “All Defices Off” at the top right). Once it is off turn it back on (unticking the same box).
3.2If nothing shows up in services, open a terminal and write:
            connmanctl scan wifi
            Once the scan is complete
            connmanctl services
Now you should be able to see different connections on Connman gui and select and connect to them.

It would be good in any case to know which wifi card is installed.
              inxi -x -n
              Also is anything blocked ?
              rfkill list

If you want to use ceni instead of connman, these are the steps.

"Not registered", or "Method "Connect" with signature ... doesn't exist"

There is a section in the Arch Wiki with your error message

Before I move to connection like ceni or conman when wifi is being hinky dinky.

Sometimes even have to check for missing firmware

                      harry@biker:~
                      $ dmesg | grep -iC 3 "wifi"

                      Good Luck.
