Hi, The availability of this kernel update was announced on August 13, but it does not appear in the repos that I usually use for AntiX 17. The previous kernel (4.9.0-276) is there and has been installed on my machines. Perhaps that is still the most current?

      Thanks!

I found 4.9.0-279 in Synaptic Package Manager.
Please note that it is not 4.9-0-279–it is 4.9.0-279. Maybe, that is why you couldn’t find it.

greyowl, Thanks for noticing my typo, in the thread title. (I have corrected it.)

I used Synaptic to search for 4.9.0-279 and also 4.9.0-276 (which I have installed). Only 276 is present. I tried a few possible repository mirrors, but with the same results.

It looks like you are running antiX 19, which is Buster. AntiX 17 is Stretch, and uses different repositories.

Perhaps, if 4.9.0-279 is the newest kernel, it has not yet made it into the Stretch repos.

In my experience, I’ve been able to use cli-aptiX to find the new kernels the quickest. I don’t know why. But give that a try.

              Christophe,
              Thanks for the suggestion.
from terminal: apt search “4.9.0-276” – finds 486 and 686 versions of that kernel
However: apt search “4.9.0-279” – finds nothing.

              So, the puzzle remains.
Either 276 is still the latest version for Stretch, or 279 is not in the repositories that my system knows about.

It’s not in the repos yet. Give it a day or two.

                  anticapitalista,
Thank you for settling the question.
Since the announcement implied that new kernels were posted already for Stretch, I wondered why I couldn’t find them.
I’ll check back in a few days.

Thank you for your constant work in all aspects of this excellent operating system!

The kernels should now be available (at least I can see it available on the official antix stretch repos).
See if it is also now available on the mirror you use.

                      Xecure,
The new kernel was found, installed and is up and running.
Thank you for letting me know it was in the repos.
