      Hi again.

So very sorry for making yet another topic, but I want to reinstall Discord…but APT can’t seem to find the dependency for it to install. Specifically “libappindicator1” iirc.

Anyway, I still appreciate your guys’ hard work. Thanks.

      Sincerely,
      Chase.

How did you try to install it?

Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

First I typed “sudo apt install” then dragged and dropped the Discord deb into the terminal from the downloads folder. That’s about it really. I just did it again just now and it keeps giving me an error message. Something along the lines of “can’t find libappindicator1 within the repos” or something.

I also tried sudo apt install libappindicator by itself and it gave me an error of “unable to locate package”. Again, that’s about it really.

I found this, tried it and it seemed to work

            Download the deb and then

            sudo dpkg –force-depends -i discord-0.0.16.deb

Note: it is 2 dashes after dpkg

You may want to download the appimage version of discord: https://github.com/simoniz0r/Discord-AppImage/releases

Just download it, make it executable and run it… It launchs fine here on antiX 19 (I don have an account to test)

EDIT: anticapita beated me to it- try installing the package as in the previous post. If it fails to work, try the appimage

              P.

I might try the AppImage instead, but thanks.

Actually the DPKG way worked well, albeit with some missing dependencies, but thanks anyway.

Once again proprietary software fails because they cant be arsed to build debs properly.
The dependencies are not required or should be changed.
