On My HP Elitebpook 2760p I installed antix 17 no problem and have run it without problem for 12 months, during installation it automagically recognised my i915 graphics and gave needed screen resolutions. When I tried a fresh install on same laptop with Antix 19 it didn’t recognise the i915 driver needed and I could only install Antix 19 using safe mode. My screen resolution was limited to 1024×768 from that point on. Can anyone give me some assistance on how to enable the i915 driver in Antix 19?

Is that you?

The use of this driver is discouraged if your hw is new enough (ca. 2007 and newer).
Not sure myself what the above is about.
Anyways. My install carries it.

::Outside of trying to boot with nomodeset as anti said. It also may be worth trying to boot with no extra grub line options except for the init 3 option of “3” without quotes. Then log in to the console and type
modprobe i915
followed by
telinit 5It may also be that the driver is blacklisted from booting in safe mode. I would check in /etc/modprobe for any blacklist.

::I’ve got this same processor/GPU on my Elitebook 8440 and what I’ve got is “i915.fastboot=0” on my boot commandline (very recent kernels enabled it by default and I’ve had blank-screen, etc. issues w/fastboot on this system w/various kernels). Also check your /etc/modprobe.d files and make sure you don’t have “enable_rc6=1” enabled anywhere (should be commented out if there). And yes, I do have modeset=1 in one of those files (i915-kms.conf). I also have “intel_agp” followed by “i915 fastboot=0” in my /etc/initramfs-tools/modules file. I’ve used the “modesetting” driver before too (works), but have better graphics with xserver-xorg-video-intel!
Hope this helps
