I’m trying to install AntiX 17.4.1, I’ve also tried 17.4. I’m installing in a Virtual Box. I’ve tried a bunch of different passwords, here’s an example of some random password I am trying. No matter what I put in, it says “Sorry, unable to set root password.”
No idea what to do! Please help 🙁

::weltall900, caprea’s reply seem 100% accurate.
At this point, the topic cannot move forward unless you further explain exactly what you tried.April 2, 2019 at 9:54 pm #20008Memberkauaianguy
::I did get the same error installing 64bit full and i think i clicked ok and close and it moved to next step to reboot.
Same thing happened on the 32bit full version but i clicked back forward back forward and it finally took.
Sorry, not going to recreate the error because i finally have my laptop fully configured with the apps i want to use.April 3, 2019 at 12:17 am #20009Anonymous
::My statement will not help to solve the problem, but it might be helpful in some other way.
A couple of days ago, I also installed the antiX 17.4.1 (64-bit, full) in VBox and didn’t have any ‘password issues’ during the installation.
How about making another test install and just enter something simple and completely insecure like “testbox”?
Same for all 5 fields and UNCHECK that auto-login.
The complete antiX installation didn’t need more then some 3 ~ 4 minutes, so no big deal to try it again.

::Is the password being copied and pasted from somewhere? If so perhaps try typing it out instead. Just in case there is some formatting character in the copy.
