I don’t have a 32bits machine, but running antiX 19.4 full i386 in a VM does let me access grub menu.

I did activate the option at 0:23 but I never got to the 2nd screen.

if the OP already performed a F4 > checkfs

I had not but I just did. I didn’t want to wait forever so I popped it in my ext BD burner then changed VMware DVD from the .iso to the physical DVD, and watched the burner LED blink while it was loading. Since the loading seemed normal, I tried to find some even viewer so I could see if something special went on in vain. I suspended the session, so if I find out how to do it, it will be on the 1st time I did it.

It turns out the missing window title in my previous post was “Starting…” as may be seen in the attachment.

Not many ideas left, especially as a machine of the type is not available for experiments.
At present I have no running 32 bit machines for testing.

My next move would be to try and install an earlier version, start with 19.2 and should that also fail
The user created Legacy antix for older machines, after that maybe 17 or MX, just to see if some OS
        will install.

Should all of those fail with same kind of error (hopefully not) I would overwrite the HDD using DD,
        reformat completely and try again.

I would also check if the BIOS is at latest, we also have no machine info, could it be unable to install
grub due running out of memory. That is not unknown to me.
