I just noticed a captcha popping out when I try to use the forum…

        Hi PPC,
Yes, I can confirm. Had to select some unknown mountains, trafic lights or bridges from memory game card icons at least 5 times last days. But if this helps to keep the board safe and sound, no problem. What puzzles me a bit is the unusual wording the captcha uses: “Some irregular activity was registered from your IP…” OK, I wasn’t aware by now that posting in this forum is considered being irregular in any way 🙂 But since we do all learn each day something new: Now I know for future, posting here is irregular.

I think your quite informative post last night on turning PC into Steinway piano and Boston orchestra that was deleted soon after it had been published is another manifestation of some crazy content monitoring criteria of the board…

It was probably due to the fact that the post had several large images included.

The post was previously “hidden”; I did not spot that until this morning; meanwhile anti found it and fixed it. (thanks)

that captcha is irritating. one of the IPs flagged is my work IP. the guys here might be a little shady, but I still think its a false positive.

I agree; there are a few things that would be nice to ‘tune’ better.

I’ve been working with an administrator to attempt to ‘do better’. Like many things it is taking a while…

                  We’ll keep at it.

In my experience, the captcha slows down the site considerably. It probably took 30 seconds to load the last few posts I read, and I’m on a very good fiber connection at home. I hope the situation improves.

I’ve had it triggered when using VPN. Essentially, I have to check and verify my VPN is off before using the forum.

the unblocking doesn’t last very long either. I’ve been blocked twice today on the same IP. One of those times the forum never actually loaded.

                          Dear Admins

I post this here, but I’m unsure if this is captcha related- it happened twice to me:
I open the forum page and I get the “Howdy, PPC” message on the top right, letting me know I’m logged on. I create a post in a thread and I submit it but… it does not get posted and I simply notice that I’m now logged off, and all the writing that I just did went the way of the Dodo… So, I’ll better get used to write everything down in a text editor, before tying to post, so I don’t have to retype everything, in case this happens a third time…

                          P.

In firefox just use “back” button immediately, it will bring you back the complete filled in entry field, containing all text you’ve typed before, so you can still save it if you’ve forgotten to do this before. At least for me this has worked always. Meanwhile I copy input field content to a simple text file always before pressing the “submit” button, just in case of…
