In this up to date release 21 install, I can connect to wlan1 manually, but ceni does not connect automatically. I also have release 19.3 installed on a different drive which does connect automatically.

I have run the commands suggested by Xecure many months ago, without success. I notice that ceni is not listed as a service that I can request at a certain runlevel. I also notice that resolvconf is not requested until runlevel S.

Any suggestions will be welcome. I am sure it is something quite simple that I have overlooked, and thanks in advance.

      Suggestions fron Xecure:-

      Recreate resolvconf file

      sudo rm /etc/resolv.conf
      sudo ln -s /etc/resolvconf/run/resolv.conf /etc/resolv.conf

Check if resolvconf service is running
      service resolvconf status

If not running, start the service
      sudo service resolvconf start

Check if you can access the internet.

Check that /etc/network/interfaces is OK and doesn’t have duplicates, and all wlanX connections are hotplug connections.

      #——————————————————————————
      # /etc/network/interfaces
      #
      # interfaces(5) file used by ifup(8) and ifdown(8)
      # Used by ceni but not by connman
      #——————————————————————————

      auto lo
      iface lo inet loopback

      allow-hotplug wlan1
      iface wlan1 inet dhcp
      wpa-psk xxxxxxxx
      wpa-ssid xxxxxxxxx

I have been setting ceni to “auto” instead of “allow-hotplug” and it runs at startup. Have you tried that?

A good response, Christophe ! Problem resolved, after making the suggested change and a cold boot, I got an immediate connection.

One further question :- How does Ceni resolve the correct wlan to connect when there are 2 to choose from with the same name and password (2.4ghz & 5ghz) due to the type of adapter I am using ?

And yet another :- Why does Ceni sometimes remove the ifupdown settings for wlan1 immediately, yet at other times it may take 2 or 3 minutes to do that and ask me to begin the scan for wlans?

          Thanks for a good response!
