Well if Alien works, I assume it’s just doing some path swapping and parsing. If that is the case then maybe I can just fork swupd and alter the paths like in Alien or even call Alien to patch paths for it from a temp directory.
An alternative is to make it easier to install Debian packages onto Clear Linux, which again, sounds mostly like path parsing/swapping issues.

Personally I think this is an interesting project…
I had been using Intel’s Clear Linux for a year and aside from performance gains mentioned earlier I do like the radical change in architecture of CL, designed to ensure integrity and reliability. In this architecture they attempt to resolve the mess growing in Linux over time, where system files are all over the place. As one of such they discard the use of /etc and implement strict rules where system files are separated from user files. So if your Clear Linux goes south, just delete /etc and some other user added directories and you are back in business with pristine system…
This Clear architecture seems difficult to reconcile with typical Debian system but I think this project would be of great value if can be accomplished.
      Just MHO…

I personally have no interest whatsoever in creating some kind of hybrid Clear Linux and I certainly do not care to see any of our efforts obscured or altered in any way. AntiX is the way it is for very good reasons. I’m experimenting with a few other Live distros and none of them are anywhere near as appealing to me personally as antiX.

        I’m closing this discussion.
