Kind of simple work around:
I changed the system time in BIOS 2 h back.
Now I have the correct time 😉

But I am still interested in a proper solution …

I had a similar time issue on one of my laptops. Clock in BIOS was not set to GMT, unlike the other laptops.
I set BIOS clock to GMT and the issue has been corrected. I am not sure if your two hours back account for this…
My actual local time is EDT.

Battery?
How can I test the battery without opening the hardware?.

Regarding the CMOS board battery usualy impossible.
Please give some hardware details, usually a replacementz is pretty easy.
I do it as a routine, check cpu and Gpu temperature. clean fan or fans, Do NOT blow with compressed air,
just hold still and brush off sticky dirt.
On Laptop clean the heat exchanger, often at end of heatpipe behind fan. Usualy I replace HDD with SDD
On a desktop system look closely at the capacitors near the power supply connection, if any are bulging or
top open please replace, pretty easy. Need help just ask.

Until I started a routine replacement policy for bios battery I had amazing puzzling issues.

this is not my laptop. And I have no experience at all with laptops of any kind, to say it frankly I just h*** these f*** machines. Honestly, if I had a wish free (you know these fairies, granting wishes) I would let her do the job … that’s why I asked, if there is a way to find out the battery status without opening that tricky thing.

As far as I am aware no.

Only suggestion I can make is search in the internet for bios battery and the exact model,
sometimes maintenance manual search is good too.

A much neglected problem especially on laptops is maintenance, the cooling system gets full of dirt dust
dead insects cat hair etc, keyboard clogged with crumbs dust and hair.

The cmos or board battery is generaly replaceable, often after removing the keyboard.

Some devices like thinkpads are wonderful to use and work on, others a pig due flimsy case clips designed
to break. Not for the faint of heart.

Should you have a laptop from work get IT to fix it, if it belongs to your wife bad luck.
Some laptops are crap, best of the best are (my opinion) Thinkpads.

I would in your case set the time in BIOS and just keep on using as is.

Well, it’s a twenty years old Sony and it belongs a nun in a monastery, who just needs it for some e-Mails and letters. No need to buy new stuff (from what money, they have none or spend it for the children)

Not all notebooks are equal, most business notebooks are intended to be repaired quickly so
easy working, replacing drives memory board battery.cleaning cooling system.

Many consumer devices are built not to last and are more or less non repairable.
Hopefully this disgusting state will be changed by legislation in EU sometime soon.

I started fixing notebooks while watching instructional you tube videos, many are good, there
is one on changing the battery on the laptop you mentioned. problem being in time a battery can
leak and ruin the device.
Saved me big
money over time as the lessons went on to help fix my monitor, washing machine, modern car
with a lot of electronics on several occasions.

OT but For all: if a modern car plays up with regard to electronics warning lights will not start,
disconnect the battery and wait at least 10 minutes then reconnect.Cars contain a lot of computers,
that does a reset and will often return you to trouble free running. It does not though reset any
warning lights. After being told the price a workshop wanted I bought a tool to do that, yet another
electronic device, cheaper first time round and saved more since purchase.

Many major corporations use Linux, Red Hat, SuSe Buntu, Debian, among others.
AntiX is in use on school notebooks belonging to some kids. And in one case
I know of in a liberal interpretation of company headquarters policy is Debian AntiX, it is slowly
spreading as keeping notebooks in use is environment friendly. Company bragging point..
