      I installed antix on an old dell laptop and was able to set it up exactly as I wanted to. I like conky as I have another newer laptop running MX.
      Conky had been running well but disappeared` after I linked it to a secondary screen. I have trawled through the net trying to find a fix but failed to resolve the issue so I decided I would install synaptic, uninstall conky then re install it. (conky-all)

      The current situation is that I can only display conky by running it as root. It is not where I want it to be and it doesn’t look the way I want it to. It looks like I will have to start again from scratch.

      If it is of any use I have the MX conky config files in my Mega Cloud folder.

      I would greatly appreciate some advice as to how to go about cleaning up the mess I have created and setting up conky anew.

        I see on my antiX 21 Full machine, its conky-legacy-all that is installed, not conky-all. I’d suggest, from a Terminal run:

        # remove the conky package you added and reinstall the original
        sudo apt update
        sudo apt remove conky-all
        sudo apt reinstall conky-legacy-all
        # move the conky resource file currently there out of the way, and make a fresh copy of the one in /etc/skel
        mv ~/.conkyrc ~/.conkyrc.moved
        cp /etc/skel/.conkyrc ~/.conkyrc

        Then go to the antiX main menu >> Desktop >> Conky On/Off
        It that doesn’t turn it on, go to the antiX main menu >> Desktop >> Conky On/Off again

        If you want to change the conky, go to the antiX main menu and run Control Centre, then Edit System Monitor (Conky). When you save the file, the Conky displayed should change.

          Thank you I have my conky back
          I copied and pasted your code into a terminal but still no conky
          I rebooted my computer – still no conky
          ran the conky command in aterminal and got an error message about a “call” (whatever that is) in my Home\User\conky\conky.rc file.
          I opened the conky directory and saw the conky.rc.moved file so I copied and pasted its contents into the conky.rc file and saved.
          That did the trick – see screenshot.

          Thank you very much for your help

            For a two-monitor operation you would need the X11 extension ‘xinerama’. However, this is not available in the conky-legacy-all version. It is included in the syntax version 1.10 of ‘conky-all’.

            conky -v

            ...
             X11:
              * Xdamage extension
              * Xinerama extension (virtual display)
              * Xshape extension (click through)
              * XDBE (double buffer extension)
              * Xft
              * ARGB visual
              * Own window
            ...

            Precondition is here again to use the version ‘.conkyrc-lua’ in antiX, because the ‘.conkyrc’ does not work.

            There is a trick to bypass this monitor configuration in antiX without lua. This would require
            1. delay the start of conky to at least 20Sec. (sleep)
            2. set the alignment in .conkyrc to ‘top_left’ and enlarge the conky window to about the size of both monitors together. Example: 2 x 1920×1080 = ~3800×1080
            3. then set only ‘minimum_size 3800 0’ and test it

            Unfortunately I can’t do this due to lack of hardware.

              Hmm – dissappeared again. Everything else is running like a swiss watch so I am going to settle for what I have. Thank you both for your input.

                This is not very helpful.

                -which conky version (syntax 1.9 or 1.10 ?)
                so

                conky -v

                -please publish the used .conkyrc
                -is it icewm ?
                -two monitors or one; what resolution are they?

                  Apologies for delay in responding. Here are the answers to your questions then the Conky detail in code box

                  Rox – ICEWM
                  At the moment only one monitor – see screenshot – resolution 1440×900. I can access the second screen which is a Sony TV via its remote control and HDMI cable which I have currently disconnected.
                  I have “found” conky again by the following process.
                  I have Stacer installed – I searched for Conky which was running but unseen on my scree so I “killed” it.
                  Then I ran the Conky command in a terminal. It is now back on my screen even after I shut the computer down for a couple of days then started it up again this morning.
