Here my next question on antiX-19 base (32bit):

Seamlessly, I could configure my USB surf stick (Huwei e160(?), I have no access to it writing this, but will report later if it’s important) on antiX it works like a charm.
… as long a a HSDPA network is available (“blue” light on the stick).

But as soon as I am in a cell without HSDPA (lets say “EDGE” in my special case, “green” light) the connection does not work (no internet traffic).

This is *not* an antiX issue. I get the very same issue on my PuppyBionic32.
However, the stick works as expected art least on supported WindowsOSs if no HSDPA is available (or manually deactivated).

I *am* also available to send and receive SMS.
And also the “dial-in” itself is inconspicuous. Dialing and login (virtually) works. No automatic hang-up. But also no traffic.

Are there any suggestions for me?

At the moment there is no stick here with credit to test, but in my experience the stick automatically switches to edge as soon as the connection gets very weak. And sometimes it is just too weak and the connection times out.Are you sure that this is not what happens ?

I haven’t had yet another possibility to test my non-HSPDA-scenario (next weekend maybe) – but could I try it the other way round?

The Windows software for these sticks gives me the option to *force* a slower GPRS-connection even if HSDPA is available.

How would I do this in (antiX) Linux?
