For information to translators, a developer has put a new file at Transifex.
It’s called “contribs-goodies” (project antix-contribs)

::Dear Translators,
Regarding the string n°1 “Access Cloud Storage- Error”, can we translate the “Access Cloud Storage” or not ?
In French, when it’s a proper name, you can’t translate. In this sentence, the words are capitalized in English and I think it’s a proper noun.
I think we can only translate the word “Error”.Please let me know if you translate the whole sentence or not.

::Dear Translators,
Regarding strings n° 16 and 17, we have a double “!!” without space before and after. Is-it an error in English or a kind of variable ?
Example with string n° 16 = Unmount Drives!!Unmounts all ‘remote’ cloud drives
Should be translate like;
1) Démonter les périphériques!!Démonte tous les stockages Cloud “distants”
or
2) Démonter les périphériques ! Démonte tous les stockages Cloud “distants”What do you think ?

::“Access Cloud Storage” is the provisional name I’ve given to this script (it’s that or “antiX Cloud”)- but it’s a descriptive name only- you can feel free to translate it or keep it in the original english version- if this script is ever incorporated into antiX, I’ll rename it “antix Cloud” and then it will be it’s official (untranslatable) name, and we’ll have to correct the translations to reflect that…

It’s not an error, but it’s also not a variable – it’s how yad (the program used to creat the User’s Interface) processes the button’s contents- it the button displays any icon, the full path of the icon will be inside those “!!”- you have several examples of that in the .pot files- so please keep the “!!”

::Dear PPC,
Regarding string 23 “Debinstaller”
Is-it a special software / program ? Do we have to translate this word ?
Can we translate like this “Installer of deb files” ?Best regards,
WallonMay 24, 2021 at 9:55 am #60006MemberPPC
::“Debinstaller”
Debinstaller is the name of the GUI script I wrote that installs .deb packages (and also allows the user to purge the package contained in that .deb file from the system).
It’s not, as is it my constum, when naming scripts, exactly only descriptive (although it’s name allows users to know what it’s meant to do)- so, “Debinstaller” should not be translated.Side note:
You can feel free to test any of the scripts in https://gitlab.com/antix-contribs/contribs-goodies , so you have a better grasp of what they do and what’s the context of the strings you are translating.
– Copy the text of the script
– Open an empty text file, paste the text there and save
– Make the script executable (using the terminal or right clicking the script in your file manager and changing its proprieties)
– Right click the script and run it (in debinstaller’s particular case, to test it, using your file manager click a .deb file and open it with the script – if you like it, you can associate the “.deb” file MIME type with the script, so debinstaller is always used to manage .deb files. It works in a similar fashion to antiX-installer and antiX-autoremove – a terminal window pops up, so you can see what the script is doing and provide any input if needed. A warning window pops up when the process is finisehd)P.

::Hello everyone,
Please PPC, keep the long name “Access Cloud Storage” for “antiX Cloud”. I thought you were going to use the Help text that we developed in pt and pt-BR for “antiX Cloud”, the English version is summarized. I preferred to use the full version with details in the information in pt-BR.
Wallon, I translated the whole phrase “Access Cloud Storage” and I thought it was better than the short name “antiX Cloud”, because it is easier for people to identify the tool and its usefulness.
The shortcut icons “antiX Cloud” and “Calendar with Agenda” can be reused, needing to be adapted to the new texts:
https://archive.org/details/antix-cloud-pt-br
https://archive.org/details/calendario-com-agenda-pt-br-para-o-antixThe three programs (“Access Cloud Storage”, “Debinstaller” and “antiX Calendar Alarm”) even having short texts could have separate files instead of being all in a single “contribs-goodies” file. The separation ensures that translators do not get confused thinking that they are all texts in a single program.
A doubt:
Is the 23 Debinstaller line of “contribs-goodies” the text that will be displayed in the title bar of the program?
In the title bar of programs that have little space or that do not have “free” text from Help, I am applying a model that I managed to build and that was approved in the WhatsApp and Telegram groups (MX Linux BR unofficial), the model appeared in the translation of the program “App Select”, where we apply the model: Pesquisar Aplicativos com o ‘App Select’. The first part mentions the translated name and then explains the original name in English of the program, so that all Brazilian users will be able to know the original name in English and associate it with the translated menu: “Pesquisar Aplicativos”.
My greetings.

https://archive.org/details/antix-cloud-pt-br
Meus cumprimentos.

::@PPC You could use comments function in transifex to attach remarks to an item about the special way a string (or strings) is/are to be interpreted or meant. This way future translators of other languages are not in need to find this thread to understand what was meant once.

::@Marcelo – yes, there’s no need, for now to translate it.
The “help file” access cloud uses is different from that version that you translated
(sim, não há necessidede de, por agora, traduzir essa entrada
O ficheiro de ajuda do access cloud é diferente daquele que você traduziu anteriormente)@Robin – I added some comments that I hope help translators and makes their work easier…

I have followed your idea. I have also translated the “Access Cloud Storage” in French.
