Payment data from a company in Sweden came contained in a 2D QR code square.

I could read it with my phone, app from Fdroid takes care of that.
      QR and Barcode Reader

For my antiX installation I found QtQr reasonably light and efficient. It can work
with a webcam or my victure action cam in computer mode.
It also reads jpeg from screenshot areas.

I had to take a screenshot to get and read the code from a PDF attachment..

Short info: QR Codes are useful for sharing a lot of information with a simple scan.
You can put an url, all your contact info, an e-mail adress, a sms message number,
a telephone number and anything else you wish in a QR code and anyone with a modern
phone can scan the code with the phone’s camera and decode all the data.

Thanks for sharing that info… Today most people use smart phones for that (well, for most stuff too) but it may be handy to process QR codes on a computer!

I wanted to copy and paste IBAN and other data, I confirmed them before transfer, my bank, online,
does not include a reader for 2D codes, probably as they could contain weird things.

I had asked a Swedish Smith H Carllson to let me use a modern bank transfer provider for payment rather than
          his usual offerings.

I paid 2,30 Euro fee to Wise and got a decent exchange rate, compared to Paypal, klarna or especialy really
expensive foreign exchange bank transfer which is a disgusting ripoff. That badly needs EU regulation as it is
within SEPA area but customers transferring to non Euro countrys get punishiong rates and charges for exchange.

Foreign transfer exchange rate is pegged low and the fee more than 18 Euro on top.
Paypal real cost about 30 Euro. klarna not far behind.

i have used Wise for a number of transfers to Vietnam, fair fee and rates as well as fast.
Once ID documents are verified as required by EU law, that took about 3 days for first use..
