[solved] Dark theme not working for some apps

Hi!

antiX 19.5 with ice-wm

I’m using the Adwaita-dark theme, set using the control centre “customize look and feel”. On my laptop it works with everything. On my desktop some applications, noticeable VLC and Qbittorrent, are still on a “light” theme. Since its working on one system but not on the other, I figure it must be some setting that differs. I’ve tried everything but can’t figure it out . The desktop has nvidia proprietary drivers, and the laptop does not, if that could be the issue. Anyone got any thoughts?

Compared the terminal output for qbittorrent on the working system with the non-working one and “qt5ct: using qt5ct plugin” was missing. Running qt5ct complained about a missing environment variable. Solution:

Edit /etc/environment as root and add the line QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME=qt5ct and save.

Thats probably there by default. It was there in my file except there was a missing line break wreaking havoc. Now I have dark theme in qbittorrent and vlc. Hurrah.

So this can be marked as solved, maybe it will help someone in the future.
