Hello unfortunately again a problem where I am at a loss due to lack of knowledge:
It does not work to copy other files from Home to another partition (either HDD with FAT32 or a USB stick) with drag & drop. The transfer ends each time with an error message. Before dragging and dropping, I opened a window with “sudo rox” as root.
I had already heard that SpaceFM was better, but it puts even more stress on memory. So I wanted to stay with Rox. Nevertheless, I have not yet managed to transfer data. I own these partitions as shown in the picture + removable disk.
Do I need other commands and drag & drop is out of the question?Explanation of my two screenshots: as root wanted to copy the folder “pipp2” from /home/woll/Downloads to the partition “Test_2” (FAT32) with drag & drop. The process ended with the error message.

::It is difficult to guess what went wrong, but it is possible it is related to something inside the name of the file.
If you don’t mind, remove pipp2 from the Test_2 USB device and try in terminal
LANG=C sudo cp /home/woll/Downloads/pipp2 /media/Test_2
so we can see if there is any error in the terminal or if the copy-pasting works OK.Note: The command above shows all messages in English while it performs a copy-paste event between your folder pipp2 in your users home folder to your Test_2 USB device, with root permissions. It should work the same as ROX transfer, but with terminal commands. If there is an error there we will be able to understand it in more detail (and in English).

::You say you are trying to copy to another partition. Is it properly mounted?
You should get used to some basic command line file management, Xecure has got you started. If you want a file manager with low memory requirements try learning to use mc (midnight commander). But I would first try to learn how to copy a file using a command at the console.

::Hello Xecure,
have made this input in the terminal:woll@antix1:~
$ LANG=C sudo cp /home/woll/Downloads/pipp2 /media/Test_2

::Hi Kexs,
try putting the -r after cp. so it reads like this. it needs to recursive copy for
entire folders in the terminal.LANG=C sudo cp -r /home/woll/Downloads/pipp2 /media/Test_2August 9, 2021 at 10:45 pm #64626Anonymous

::Hello, was on the road all day.
So here is the result:
$ LANG=C sudo cp -r /home/woll/Downloads/pipp2 /media/Test_2
[sudo] password for woll:
cp: cannot create directory ‘/media/Test_2/pipp2/The Artist Is Present 2 | This time it’$’\342\200\231”s personal_files’: Invalid argument
cp: cannot create regular file ‘/media/Test_2/pipp2/The Artist Is Present 2 | This time it’$’\342\200\231”s personal.html’: Invalid argumentIt seems that way that does not match the files. A copy protection maybe?

::can you try in the media folder to right click and mount/unmount Test_2 and try copying again.

Edit the file’s name. It has strange characters and the copy command (from both terminal and rox) are trying to interpret this name as part of a command. Try to remove strange characters from it.

::Good Morning,
Copying works ! , but it’s funny for me because I’m just going to do the following steps:1. I go to “media/” and hang on my drives “test_1”, and my other drive “test_2” by clicking the folder. The little points on folders are green.
2. Now I go root and open two windows with “sudo rox”. Now I try to move a folder or image file with Drag&Drop from “/home/woll/Downloads” to my other drive, also “Test_1” or “Test_2”. This always fails, with all files.
3. Now I reconnect the terminal and enter: “LANG=C sudo cp -r /home/woll/Downloads/EXAMPLE-NAME /media/Test_2”.
With the result, which the file has now been copied. No error message appears : -) .4. If I go root again and open two windows with “sudo rox” and drag and drop files to my other drivers, it works!!!
But nevertheless, at least for me it is something peculiar, which is only by the exemplary command “LANG=C sudo cp -r /home/woll/Downloads/EXAMPLE-Name /media/Test_2”, and only after this command-input the drag & drop procedure will works.
Sorry for my kind of description, admittedly my Linux knowledge is still initially, many basics are missing me. Nevertheless, I do not want to put my head in the sand and will book a practice Linus training course.

It would have to do it both good functions: data transfer with input-commands in the terminal and (because it is still even easier for me) copying with Drag & Drop.
