      Hiyall,
I was trying to change a few things to my liking. Got most of it done but in the process it broke the OS 3 TIMES!
      It’s up and running again.
I went to ‘Package Installed’ and clicked Deadbeef to install. It told me that it works however on going into Applications/Multimedia, it’s not there.
I downloaded the app from the DeadBeef website, unzipped it, went to Terminal, did sudo apt update, sudo apt install (copy/pasted file) and still nothing.

I can actually run it from the Downloads folder but that’s not convenient. How do i get an icon set on the taskbar?

        hi there

I was trying to change a few things to my liking.

On antiX or on a single program/app?

Got most of it done but in the process it broke the OS 3 TIMES!

Can you pls describe what was broken and how you could notice it

        It’s up and running again.

Is this a new and fresh install or a repaired one?

I went to ‘Package Installed’ and clicked Deadbeef to install. It told me that it works however on going into Applications/Multimedia, it’s not there.

Very strange: I went to package installer, I wrote in the search bar “deadbeef” and the program was immediately proposed to me.

How do i get an icon set on the taskbar?

In case you have FT10 installed, it is very easy.

My suggestion: go to package installer, search for “deadbeef”, then you uninstall the program and then re-install it following the best path.
Please note that deadbeef is also present in the synaptic package manager.

        good luck
        m

Hi, I am not quite sure I understand what your problems are:

          and still nothing

          0) Could you post a link to the page from which you downloaded Deadbeef?
          1) Did you download a DEB package?
If not, then it is possible that you have downloaded a zipped folder with binary that is supposed to be called/run using the local file.
          2) [If yes to 1)] Is the Deadbeef correctly installed in the system (and recognized as such by the packaging tools dpkg/apt[-get|itude])?
          Post output of:
apt-cache search deadbeef; apt-cache policy deadbeef

I almost always use custom A) keyboard shortcuts or B) running commands from the terminal.
I know that there are posts on this forum about *installed* applications not showing in the menu.
          Please, do search for them.

Sybok, Was it something you said? Yes.
I went back to the Deadbeef site and noticed that there is only one .deb file.
I downloaded and sudo’d it and it and voila, it works!
