    After reading this article, I’m passing this along wondering if it could affect AntiX and if AntiX may wish to package them separately, seeing that they’ll remain in upstream X.org?

    We already do

    harry@biker:~
    $ inxi -S
    System:
      Host: biker Kernel: 5.4.0-antix.1-amd64-smp x86_64 bits: 64
      Desktop: IceWM 1.6.5
      Distro: antiX-19_x64-full Marielle Franco 16 October 2019

    Notice antix in the name of the kernel. Now if driver maintainers and firmware developers drop support from the kernel for what ever reason on legacy gear . Oh well. Sux to be you. I got a antique Kapok that makes a cool dust magnet. Still fires up and everything. Runs Blue flops . Terminal only. links is the browser. I think the power brick is worth more than the netbook.

    If really concerned. Just roll with a older Debian kernel via the smxi script in AntiX.

    Ok. I responded before reading your link. Since I own a IBM T23 laptop effected by this. By the way. I was effected by this long ago. Savage graphics.

    Everyone using this distro came to my rescue with Vesa support. I found this out back in in AntiX 14 or so.

    I did not need the savage driver any more.

    Edit: I just love this part.

    It might have just happened!

    That is antis response to configuring new kernels for older gear support. Back in 2015.
