I am having trouble getting the default browser setting to work with Password Safe application.
I installed Palemoon browser and set it as my default browser. I also went to control centre and change the preferred browser to palemoon.desktop
When I click Web Browser in the menu, palemoon opens correctly.
However, when I use Password Safe, it still open websites with firefox.
How can I get it to open in palemoon browser?- This topic was modified 3 years, 4 months ago by greyowl.

Thanks for the help.
I entered /usr/share/applications/palemoon.desktop in the box for the alternate browser.
However, it still opens sites with firefox.- This reply was modified 3 years, 4 months ago by greyowl.

::Where does palemoon install its executable binary file? You might fare better by pointing to that.

I found: /opt/palemoon/palemoon
It is an executable file and if I right click and select “execute” it will open Palemoon.,
However, it doesn’t work when I add it in Password Safe.Dell Latitude D620 laptop with antiX 22 (64 bit)

::Hallo greyowl, as you did not specify how you set default browser.
We have system default Palemoon, our problem was slightly different but below worked for us.
sudo update-alternatives –config x-www-browser

::Hi guys, seems path to Palemoon depends on how you installed.
If you installed from the AntiX repo you can easily find the paths in synaptic by looking at installed files.
Hope that is translated correctly, system in front of me is in German.My executable is in /usr/lib/palemoon and I was able to define it as standard browser using below command.
sudo update-alternatives –config x-www-browser gave me a choice of system standard browser which I set to Palemoon.
In opt I only find applications installed with dpkg like my Brother printer and PDF Editor.
Btw. Setting this way allowed Libreoffice Help to be opened with Palemoon instead of Firefox LTS which was my main aim.

sudo update-alternatives –config x-www-browser
Here is the result of the above:
user@antix1:~
$ sudo update-alternatives-config x-www-browser
[sudo] password for user:
sudo: update-alternatives-config: command not found

$I set Palemoon as my default browser within Palemoon preferences. I also went to control centre and change the preferred browser to palemoon.desktop

::If the obove does not work for you, probably it’s /usr/bin/palemoon.
I tried this for the alternate browser in Password Safe but it doesn’t work.
I am beginning the think that the Alternate Browser feature doesn’t work.Dell Latitude D620 laptop with antiX 22 (64 bit)

I does work.
Sorry, but the first time that I tried it, I got the command wrong.
I did it again with the command: sudo update-alternatives –config x-www-browser
This gave me the following results:
$ sudo update-alternatives –config x-www-browser
There are 6 choices for the alternative x-www-browser (providing /usr/bin/x-www-browser).Selection Path Priority Status
————————————————————
* 0 /usr/bin/firefox 100 auto mode
1 /usr/bin/antix-viewer 20 manual mode
2 /usr/bin/dillo 50 manual mode
3 /usr/bin/firefox 100 manual mode
4 /usr/bin/mx-viewer 20 manual mode
5 /usr/bin/palemoon 71 manual mode
6 /usr/bin/xlinks2 69 manual modePress <enter> to keep the current choice[*], or type selection number: 5
update-alternatives: using /usr/bin/palemoon to provide /usr/bin/x-www-browser (x-www-browser) in manual modeI selected 5 choice to change the default to /usr/bin/palemoon.
Now, Password Safe work correctly–it browses to the URL using Palemoon.
Success!
Thank you for the help.

::Thanks Caprea,
I could see the problem in the command but no corrective post was accepted although I tried several times.
Frustrating for me and the person who needs assistance. -
