      My desktop_files_pipemenu isn’t working correctly.It just lists folders in a line(see screenshot)
I don’t know if something went wrong in the script? /usr/local/bin/icewm-menu-Desktop.sh (?)

It seems to be a bug when the Desktop folder (and any folder it contains) is empty.

I can try sending a fix upstream, but is this part of antix-goodies-base or what is the main project name? Once I know I can fork the prject and make a merge request.

Does anybody know what dev project includes this script?

I do not know off hand, but you can find out…
          dpkg -S /usr/local/bin/icewm-menu-Desktop.sh
Which should give you the package name. Most (all?) of the gitlab repository names have a package name matched to them.

Thanks, Dave. I usually do it the stupid way, which is open synaptic and browse the “Installed Files” tab for each package I suspect is related.
            This method is way better.

Tonight I will take a look at the code (now I know it is part of the antix-goodies package) and try to merge request a fix to the gitlab project.

              Give this a try…

BTW, its ok to ask me to fix anything I’ve created that has troubles. I just haven’t been checking threads lately. It didn’t work right if the folder was empty.

I’ll send an email if I’m not allowed to post it.

                Ok It actually works fine
I didn’t have a “desktop” file in home
I created a “desktop” file and added a few files and folders and it functions properly
I thought it was more of a “Home” file directory pipe shortcut
                Thanks for your work BobC

Yes, it expects there to be a directory created by the normal antiX base and full installs called $HOME/Desktop, and the dynamic menu is created to traverse up to five directory levels of files and subdirectories underneath it, and if you hit enter on a .desktop file, it runs that, and if it is some other type of file, it attempts to execute it.

I created it for older systems where running the Rox-IceWM desktop used too much additional memory, so those people would still be able to easily execute things put in their Desktop directory.

Sorry if I overstepped, BobC. I was going to check it when I had the time, but it is much better that you, the original developer, could find and fix the issue.

                    Thanks, for your work.

No, no problem at all… I just hadn’t seen the thread, as I hadn’t been looking. I haven’t figured out the github/gitlab stuff still, to actually implement a fix, yet, anyway.

I’m trying to increase my ability with the script stuff as I find things I can figure out, and as I get better with that I will need to learn other things to support it.

We are all learning how things work. I just started with gitlab and have had to delete and restart projects a few times before I understood what I was doing. I am still lost with some things, so I am still learning.
