@masinick: no, antix-wifi-switch is not installed. “which antix-wifi-switch” printf nothing.

Try installing this from a terminal:

      sudo apt-get update ; sudo apt-get install antix-goodies

After antix-goodies is installed, you should be able to use this file. I checked and it is one of the files in the goodies package.

antix-wifi-switch is installed now, but ceni is not installed:
        $ antix-wifi-switch
connman is the only available program.

How ceni can help-me to run dhclient every time a network connection is up? Will ceni solve my problem?

          Both tools work with dhclient.

I don’t know why your version is missing Ceni. Which antiX version [Full, Base, Core, Net] did you install?

            antiX-19 Marielle Franco
            antiX-full

            My iso file is “antiX-19_386-full.iso”.
I am running a live cd with persistence.
I am testing before to install to hard drive.

If you have antiX 19 Full, then both ceni and Ceni are listed in the directory /sbin.

To run commands from the /sbin directory, you DO have to run as the root user.

sudo /sbin/ceni will work as long as there are not any connman processes running.

That’s why I also asked you whether or not the antix-wifi-switch program is installed.

Since you are on antiX Full you should have both programs.

Please check again now that I have given you the path to ceni and confirm. Thanks!

antiX-19.1 was the first release where ceni is included together with connman.
                https://www.antixforum.com/category/news/page/3/

You could try to download the latest antiX-19.3 -release, but I’m afraid it won’t help much with your problem.

running a live cd with persistence

                Is this possible ?

I’m running the December 10, 2020 live snapshot that christophe created, based on the recommendations written by Xecure. It’s a live antiX 19.3 Base instance; this one comes with both Connman and Ceni and the antix-wifi-switch are available on this recent image. If it works for you, perhaps it would solve your problems.

masinick: no, my distro has not ceni installed.
                    $ sudo ls /sbin/ceni
ls: cannot access /sbin/ceni: No such file or directory

caprea: I will try antiX-19.3. Is NetworkManager installed in antiX-19.3? I never get problems when using NetworkManager, so I wold like antiX use it.
And yes, it’s possible to have a live cd with persistence, for this you have to configure a persistent file in a read-write location. I use my hard drive to store the persistence file. I use the boot menu “antiX-19 386-full Customize Boot (text menus)” to configure the persistence.
About the dns problem (that is the problem I need to solve), I do not understand why antiX do not assign a dns to resolvconf when a network conection starts. I believe that a configuration is missing. Thank you everybody.

It’s possible to install network-manager on antiX.
I have done this before. You need network-manager and network-manager-gnome.
You can start it then with the command nm-applet from terminal.
This will put an applet in the taskbar, from where you can make your settings.

Edit:I tried this now again.Network-manager installs fine and runs.

Strange is it stops to work as soon as I deinstall connman.

                        try this:

Good question. These antiX boot parameters are seldom discussed

skidoo, I alread run “which ceni” before, and this print nothing, so ceni is realy not installed. I used “ls /sbin/ceni” because masinick tell-me that run “sudo /sbin/ceni” work.
I am alread running a live cd with persistence, so that is not a question.

/sbin/Ceni was on a live instance, not an installed system.

That is true for antiX-19 ONLY.

                                  antiX-19.1, 19.2 and 19.3 include ceni.

                                  * ceni network manager included, but connman is default

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.
