Hello everybody, new to Linux and AntiX
Coming from Windows and ran MX Linux on my very old Laptop. A forum participant advised I should move to AntiX.

I use AIR VPN and just installed the latest version of AntiX. Trying to install AirVPN Graphic Interface is just not happening. Tried several versions too.
The GDebi installer opens up blank. What could be the problem. The packages installed just fine on MX Linux.

      Thank you

I have seen this before, the opening with gdebi doesn’t seem functional.
Have you tried to click on the File tab in gdebi and go to your downloaded file and open it like this ?

I would bypass gdebi and just use apt.

          sudo apt-get install full_path_and_name_of_deb_to_install

gdebi is iffy these days in my experience.

            In /usr/share/applications/gdebi.desktop change Exec=su-to-root -X -c gdebi-gtk %f to Exec=gksudo gdebi-gtk %f. Then gdebi will work fine.

The latest updates should show that it is possible to install via package-installer under Network.

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

@AR, yes, thanks, that was the problem with gdebi.

I’ll fix this with an updated deb – thanks AR.

                    Greetings

                    My OS: antix 21

                    I checked the following /usr/share/applications/gdebi.desktop
and found that it is set as follows:
                    Exec=gdebi-gtk %f

gdebi package installer opens fine, but the moment I click on “Install Package” it closes. I had the same problem in antix 19.1
Can anyone help me on how to fix gdebi in antix since it works fine in Ubuntu

                    I ran:
sudo apt-get install lintian (not sure if gdebi will need this ?)

                      Hello.

Gdebi causes more problems than it solves.
There are many posts about it at this forum and elsewhere.
Instead install the deb package via apt command.

BTW you really should not install apps outside of the official repos unless you really know how to fix any potential issues.
