Hi all, I’ve just installed antiX-23 core i386 on my Toshiba Portege R100. Almost everything seems to work but I can’t get the graphics to start, splash-all tells me it can’t find a framebuffer.
I attach 2 screenshots of the output of the command “inxi -G” and “hwinfo –framebuffer”.
Could you please give me an indication of how to solve the problem or some command or log to use to find some more details related to the problem.
      Thanks.

Hi lume, you have antiX core installed. From the download site:

antiX-core (c520MB) – no gui environment, but should support most wireless.
Suitable for confident/comfortable users who want to build up from a minimal install

For your card you need the xserver-xorg-video-trident.Otherwise you can follow this tutorial from christoph
        https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/antix-core-plus-just-enough-x-a-recipe/

If you want a graphical gui install base or might better full.

          Thanks caprea, I’m a dumb… I’ve downloaded the base x64 and the core i386.
I’m now installing the i386 base and will let you know the results.
          Many thanks!

@lume – if you are unexperienced enough to install “core” without knowing why “graphics failed to start”, I would advise, if storage is not a problem, using the “Full” version of antiX – the difference between it and “base” is much, much more than just having LibreOffice installed- there are posts here in the forum about that.

Thanks for the hint PPC. I was convinced that I had downloaded the core and because I was not familiar with the distribution, having seen the graphics boot and having received an error related to the framebuffer, I thought it was a problem with a driver, by the way I saw that there were 2 runlevels and because 5 is used for graphics and 3 for text mode I was misled).
I installed the core and it works quite well. I don’t need LibreOffice as my hd is only 30Gb.
              Thanks.
