I was researching before putting the problem here, I did not find an answer by the way.
when trying to start DROOPY an error window appear….
“The new terminal’s command failed to run: Failed to execute child process “python” (The file or directory does not exist) ”
I don’t understand what it means in depth, but PYTHON is installed, 2 and 3……

::Well…. DROOPY started, but not in a good way. it can be accessed through the browser but throws this error when I try to enter a file on the server pc through the droopy.
Started file transfer
TypeError(‘__init__() takes from 1 to 11 positional arguments but 12 were given’)the browser only announces that the connection was restarted………
apart from this is what it says in the terminal at the beginning of droopy.
Files will be uploaded to /home/demo
HTTP server starting… Check it out at http://localhost:8000
the folder address is not as specified in the configuration file and the port is also not correct…….
I would have to start a new topic with this problem right?

::No, please don’t start a new topic. It seems there’s indeed a problem with droopy on antiX21. It should start from terminal with droopy.sh, but doesn’t, instead shows the error message from your first post.

::It seems this is not a problem of droopy, but the roxterminal.
If you open
droopy.sh
with the lxterminal it is opened immediately.
BTW, did you look at the antiX FAQ

::sorry caprea, it’s not the terminal.
Through the terminal(ROX/LX) droopy starts, but not as it should. at least in Antix21December 3, 2021 at 11:58 pm #72209Moderator

::OK. You are right, it does not matter which terminal is used.
I’m still puzzled why it suddenly works here on my antiX21 without any problems.Unfortunately, I think we are talking past each other here, or I have misunderstood something.
Is it possible for you to open droopy from the control-centre or from terminal with
droopy.sh

::I hadn’t tried to run “droopy.sh” in the terminal.
doing so, It throw this:
** (x-terminal-emulator:6540): WARNING **: 09:12:42.882: Failed to connect to session manager: SESSION_MANAGER environment variable not defined
** (x-terminal-emulator:6540): CRITICAL **: 09:12:42.908: The new terminal’s command failed to run: Failed to execute child process “python” ()
the droopy interface ends up opening, along with a window showing the same as the second warning.

::To start droopy the way it should it has to be started with droopy.sh
On a new antix21 installation I had to install some python2 software for thisI will look at the log-history and post back.
Edit: Here’s what I installed
python-is-python2
python2-minimal
There are some other dependencies that will get installed automatically.Afterwards droopy can get started from control-centre and from terminal with droopy.sh
and should now work in the normal way (it does here)- This reply was modified 1 year, 5 months ago by caprea.

::well … we are getting closer.
“python-is-python2 was what was missing”
the droopy start now, it recognizes the complete configuration. but when trying to introduce a file to the server, from a client this error appears.
IOError(13, ‘Permission denied’)
the files are transferred. but they end up in the HOME folder, not in the folder specified in the configuration file.It also blocks me from accessing the Public folder completely. not just when the server is running.
update: everything works fine. The error must have been an inconsistency between the permissions applied by the Droopy configuration and the folder’s own permissions.
as soon as it equals them everything worked perfect …

::Hi Everyone,
Thanks for pointing out the option of running droopy from the Control Centre. File transfer worked without errors after I installed python-is-python2 and then started droopy from the Control Centre. From the command line, droopy starts up fine, and the web server can be seen from the client, but file transfer fails and gives the error” “TypeError(‘__init__() takes from 1 to 11 positional arguments but 12 were given’)”.
What is the exact command that runs droopy from the Control Centre?
More generally, is there a configuration file for the Control Centre somewhere?Sincerely,
Lars.- This reply was modified 1 year, 4 months ago by lgj100.

::Given that droopy code is python2 + python3 compatible, I think that it would be better to use python-is-python3 as a dependency given python2’s deprecation. I also could not run droopy from the menu until installing python-is-python3.

::Repackaged droopy-antix with python-is-python3 as a dependency.
Thanks for the fix(es).
Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.
antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.
