I have a new (to me) Lenovo T520. It has a 1T drive. I used Windows 10 while installing it to Partition the drive to 2 500g partitions. (I usually dual boot with 2 separate drives) Currently W10 is updating and I have yet to install MX-17. Will this install be the same as if I have 2 different drives? What shall I format the 2nd partition to EXT4 ? Do I install the boot record to the Windows boot partition or MX-17 root?
I usually format to EXT4 and make:
20G Root Partition
8g swap (it has 8g of ram)
the rest as Home- This topic was modified 4 years, 8 months ago by Brian Masinick.

::I just swap out drives anymore.Hence why I don’t respond to UEFI dual boot threads.
You basically did what I do normally. But in your case. I would probably tell the bios what drive to boot 1st instead of physically removing screws and swapping drives. Install MX grub to the MBR of the drive MX was installed to.
Use bios instead of a screw driver. Windows is rarely needed by me any more to tune motorcycles. Software is too pricey.

::Shoot. Mis read the whole thread. I thought you had 2 500 gig drives in 2 bays.
So the bios thing. Never mind.UEFI is a head ache for me when it comes to dual boot. Hence why I swap drives.

::Right, thank you Rok. I Ditched Windows and just put in MX17. Windows is on my desktops mainly to play GW2 and a few other games. I am glad that Amazon, Netflix and Vudu now work flawlessly in MX17 I can get rid of my old slow Sony Blu-Ray player.
(Is the a closed/solved edit here, can’t find one)
