(passing along a trick I have used in the past & was reminded of today while skimming SparkyLinux forum)

Basic way of limiting web connections
      ( paraphrasing forum.sparkylinux.org/index.php/topic,5353.0.html )

This technique is easily circumvented by anyone with basic browser settings knowledge.
It points to a nonfunctional proxy address giving an error for all urls except the one specified for no proxy.

Firefox - Preferences }} Find in preferences }} proxy }} Settings }} Manual Proxy Configuration

129.0.0.1 Port 8888 (this is an intentionally bogus assignment, does not connect to anything)

Farther down in the settings area, enter
No proxy for> wikipedia.org, antixforum.com (...and a comma-separated list of your other "approved" sites)

Now the browser will only be able to connect to your "No Proxy for" listed sites.
The change takes effect immediately (no restart required) and can be quickly toggled, at will,
between "none" and "manual" ~~ your previously-entered manual settings are not lost if you toggle to "none".

      .
