      Hello guys,

I have installed antiX linux in dual boot configuration with Windows XP. The default option is the antiX linux since it is installed later and bootloader is grub. The default timeout is 5 sec and I know this can be changed either by manually editing text file (menu.lst) or through some graphical menu.

How this is done in antiX 19.3? There is no menu.lst file.

      Thak you!

        Welcome!

click Menu > Control Centre > “System” tab > Edit config files > “00_header” tab > edit the line
        if [ "x${GRUB_TIMEOUT}" = "x" ] ; then GRUB_TIMEOUT=5 ; fi
changing the 5 to the number you want and save the file.
You probably need the update grub to enable the change
        sudo update-grub

… wait for the update to finish and then Reboot to test the changes…

        P.

This is because antiX uses Grub2 and the menu.lst file we used to use in Grub has been replaced. But antiX has a nice utility script built in (in the Control Centre) to edit the config files. Just be careful. A typo can render your machine unbootable.
