Sorry, failed to create user directory
i red someone else had this on a eeepc, i tried to redo the entire operation and its the same thing, cant get an user name and login psw.
Can anyone help me with this? i m new in linux, its 4 days (and nights..) i try to get a system on this laptop, tried arch32, mint, archbang, puppy, easypeasy.. every time i get stuck somewhere, this distro seems to work fine without installing it but like this its very slow, i hope it can get faster once installed it.

How big is the hard drive on the eeepc. I bet it is too small for a full AntiX iso install.

I used to roll with eeepcs myself. Till I sold em. Might help. Might not.

          Hi, tnks for answering me.
Asus eeepc 701 4G hard disk SSD, 2 G RAM, sd card 4G , processor 900Mhz intel celeron, i did the full installation cause i red it fits in 3,5 Gb…
I took a look at the link even before posting but it seems i did all right, maybe its the 17 version that has a problem? if i click next after the error it does nothing , and the user name and password isn t setted.

You need more than 4GB. You can use base version, but you will have to use the cli-installer.

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

Aok, i downloaded the AntiX17 base version, now i dont find rufus like programs on the live session and if i try to download rufus or unetbooting using synaptic it ask me to put admin psw.. i don t have it.
              what can i do?
afterward cli installer is inside the Antix17 base .iso??

                username=demo – password=demo
                root password=root.
                cli-installer is on the iso.

                Rufus only works in windows.

its absolutly necessary to install it with cli-installer?
i run it from terminal after it loaded the live session?
i tried first: Antix 17 base
                  than: failsafe boot
both get on the live session..how to get the terminal at the beginning?

Yes, because the gui installer will only work and complete if the hard drive is >4G
You can always try it though …

That is supposed to happen if you haven’t installed it. It is a ‘live’ cd.

If you want to use the cli-installer, at the live boot menu, type 3 then follow the instructions

From my PM answer to your PM to me.

If your rig was mine. I’d insert a class 10 sd card in the slot. Install AntiX on that. Install Grub on MBR of SD card also. Use that cheap built 4 gig internal phison ssd as internal storage formatted as ext3 file system.

Use my ESC key or whatever. Been awhile so I don’t remember if it was F12 or F11 key for playing with bios settings. Set the SD card to boot 1st on the boot order .
That is my poor mans way of operating on a eeepc. I used to be moderator at eeepc forums before they went bust. I lost a lot of good info when that site went down.
My link I gave in your thread points to different ways I ran on eeepcs. I thin the bug was fixed where fstab and legacy grub does not mixed up any more like it did
when I wrote my how tos.

                            Good Luck.

Tnks for the Tip, i ll look for a bigger SD card, but a class 10 wouldn t be waisted on that crap Card reader???
Could it read it fast enough?
A friend advised me to use USB 2 instead (the eee701 has 3 USB2 ports), being it a bit faster, but its a bit annoyng having it always on the laptop..

Experiment with USB if that is easier for you.
