        Hi and welcome, gruezi

antiX does make much better use of any old hardware than your old distro (and it’s not an outdated OS) – but there’s a learning curve – most essential stuff is already in the threads that are (more or less) the unofficial manual/FAQ’s, here in the forum – they are “sticky” posts, available, on the top of this list: https://www.antixforum.com/forums/forum/new-users/welcome-to-antix/ (my 2 threads there may provide some guidance about how to transition from your old OS).
Also, if you think antiX interface is too peculiar: please read on those threads, how to change the default File Manager from rox-filer to ZZZFM. If even so you would prefer a more “traditional/modern” interface, you can try your luck with the FT10 transformation pack (search for it here in the forum, to have an idea of what it is).
We do not have Snaps here in antiX (for better or for worst) but .deb files, appimages and flatpaks are nice ways to have new software available in antiX.
We do not have an “App Store” exactly, but we do have Package Installer (a mini “store” for some essential apps- like browsers, Gimp. the newest LibreOffice, etc) and you have Synaptic, that allows you to install anything from the Repository.

        P.

You will find alt with left click to move around a window on the screen to be your best friend. I think 800×600 screen is max on the 701. I was able to get 1024×600 on my 900.

          Have fun and good luck.
