Hello
My (old) eeepc is still alive thanks to antix … but its disk is toosmall to install my favorites apps ( Ffox , Tbird , Libreoffice , gimp … )
Are there any ideas to use the place in an 32 Go SD , like
– install apps on the SD card
– move directories ( /var , /usr ) on the SD card
Unless I am much mistaken there is an internal unused USB port in your device.
Add an internal USB stick or drive and run antiX from that sounds feasible.
Maybe Start here https://hackaday.com/2008/12/22/no-solder-eeepc-701-upgrades/
There is a lot of info in the net, just take care while working, do use antistatic
armband wear no synthetics to reduce risks.
The device should also run 2 or better 4GB Ram especially latter is a massive
improvement.
Thanks xunzi , some intersting stuff
But my concern is : How to make place free on the small SSD disk of the EeePc701 ( 4 GB ! )
I have already a 32 GB SD card inserted in the right side of the EeePC
so how to move directories or install apps in this SD card
On the installer, you could choose your removable mc card as the /usr directory. (As some context, my antiX install on my repurposed-chromebook has a 16 GB mmc. My antiX system is 5.9 GB, but my /usr directory takes up 4.7 GB of that.)
Probably the better way would be to use your 32-GB SD card as / (root), and forget about your 4 GB mmc (or use it only for general file storage, like video, music, data files).
added:
Or make the 32-gb SD card into a “live-USB” and run it live (again, ignoring the internal storage, except for storage of data files).
confirmed antiX frugaler, since 2019
