Does anybody got any of the most common email services (gmail, outlook, yahoo) work with any of the most minimal browsers (Dillo, Links 2, NetSurf)?

::Links and Dillo require java/jre to even deal with gmail login. As far as I know. I cannot even login to this forum using Netsurf on my P3 IBM Laptop running AntiX 17.
I could login here on Qupzilla browser though after installing JRE runtime enviroment

::Otherwise. Use Claws email instead.
On MX forum, MX-16 fan tested Clawsmail and Sylpheed and reported that the fork, formerly a better choice is less updated and so less reliable than Sylpheed. Maybe worth a try.

::Links and Dillo require java/jre to even deal with gmail loginNope.
Java/JRE is only involved in browser, when a page contains <applet> embedded content
and is handled via a plugin (e.g the “IcedTea” Java plugin)It is javascript (aka ECMAscript) which is used across garden-variety login pages, webforms…
and that is handled natively by the browser (e.g. firefox, chromium) or is not supported by the browser (e.g. dillo, elinks)January 23, 2018 at 5:04 pm #5760Anonymous
::Gmail, I refuse to use
same here, but for the sake of testing I do have an account.
As recently as a month or so ago, I was (still) able to sign-in using TorBrowser with javascript disabled.
Immediately after submitting the login form, keep an eye on lower-right corner of the screen… and click “basic HTML only”.edit:
retested again today, with javascript disabled. The gmail page coaches you how to proceed.
yahoo
with javascript disabled, sends ya to a recaptcha “prove you’re not a robot” page (which you cannot passthru while javascript disabled)

::I’m using the eric6 web browser for gmail and works great.
It installed with my python setup.February 9, 2018 at 1:30 pm #6383Memberandfree
::It installed with my python setup.
Which one? I installed python-setuptools & python3-setuptools, but I don’t see any eric6 browser.

::It installed as part of eric package. It actually is part of eric python ide.
It uses PyQt5/qtwebkit but menu says eric6-web browser under programming tab.February 9, 2018 at 5:06 pm #6386Anonymous
::One thing I do notice is my cpu sits around 50% when running and
memory usage seems to slowly increase. The cpu usage is only
when I’m on the forums page not sitting at the duckduckgo homepage.
I’m on a athon 2650e cpu at 1.6 ghz. Also there is no youtube
or flash capability on it.February 10, 2018 at 12:01 am #6392Memberandfree
::Thank you, it works. It seems to be an interesting alternative, quite fast, but I can’t say yet if it’s actually faster than Pale Moon on my system. There are also some problems. There is an error message at startup:
Warning:
inotify_add_watch(“/home/yyy/.config/qt5ct/”) failed: “No such file or directory”
File: None
Line: 0
Function: NoneAnd there was also an unexpected one:
Warning:
QObject::disconnect: Unexpected null parameter
File: None
Line: 0
Function: NoneAnd in one case, the browser shut down unexpectedly.

::If you open your terminal and type “touch /home/yyy/.config/qt5ct”
the error goes away. I never had the second error but I do have
java enabled under settings/preferences. Also a search
on the error shows that it is a
Qt5/webkit error that alot of people are getting.February 10, 2018 at 2:58 pm #6423Memberandfree
::If you open your terminal and type “touch /home/yyy/.config/qt5ct” the error goes away.
The touch command didn’t fixed the problem. It created a file and not a directory. The mkdir command did the job:
mkdir /home/yyy/.config/qt5ctI never had the second error but I do have java enabled under settings/preferences.
I enabled java, too, but I had once again this error, while quoting your post.

::I’m not sure what’s causing the second error, but alot of people on kde and Qt sites are having
it too…not just eric browser but on alot of qt4 and qt5 programs. I’m not going to use it
anymore because it just locked up my cpu at 100% and sucked up all my ram (1.9 gb). I just
had to reboot and type this in Qupzilla instead. BTW I’m was using space-jwm not icewm
on 64-bit 4.14 kernel, not sure if that would’ve made a difference though. -
